About Me And My Patch. Friday, 7 August 2015. Blue skies this morning, with just a few fair weather clouds bubbling up later and little wind, made for a pleasant enough patch walk. I was out for a little over 3 hours, mainly checking the fields and paddocks of Migrant Alley, the Greenhouse Grounds with its associated copse, plus the Ashes Lane Fields. About Me And My Patch. Friday, 22 May 2015. Early sunshine gave way to scattered cloud around 07:30hrs this morning, but it remained warmer than of late, with little wind. A quick circuit of Migrant alley was made first thing, I don't expect any passage migrants here now, but there again you never know! Anyway there wasn't any today, just 5 each of CANADA and GREYLAG GOOSE on one of the paddocks, plus a few LINNETS. Something at last to add to the May list! A much improved day, weatherwise, being quite warm this morning under a clear blue sky, it soon clouded over by midday however, just leaving the odd sunny spell to be enjoyed. Today I had a 3 hour patch visit from 06:30hrs, in some clear but cool conditions, by the end of the visit cloud had built up and the wind had increased, bring some light showers. There were 3 GREYLAG and 5 CANADA GEESE on one of the paddocks at Migrant Alley, while the nearby Greenhouse Grounds had a LITTLE OWL perched on one of the greenhouses, the WHITETHROATS that have set up territory here, were much quieter than of late. In total an amazing 73 Chiffchaff were caught in the PC World drain, Poole, of which 68 were new (incl tristis), 4 were re-trapped from previous visits and 1 was a control .
