Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency: The little mouse
http://detectiveagency.blogspot.com/2007/05/little-mouse.html
Wednesday, May 16, 2007. I've almost finished clearing out my files, with my bookmarks to go so I'll be starting to blog regularly soon enough. I will be learning Linux itself as well as various packages at the same time as trying to fit into a pattern. My aim is a two day cycle, but I'll see how that goes. It's now back outside, and should be fine. Part of me thought "it's so small, it must be vulnerable to cats.or kids" but the more realistic part of me superseded that with "well, it survived f...More ...

Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency: Doing too much
http://detectiveagency.blogspot.com/2007/05/doing-too-much.html
Tuesday, May 22, 2007. I seem to have a habit of taking on too many projects at the same time, and it appears I've done the same again. I am currently trying to think through three separate business models, several blogs, new PC hardware, and all while learning Ubuntu Linux and trying to find a regular sleep pattern. My folders have mostly been sorted now, my bookmarks have almost been culled to those I actually use. Posted by Dirk Gently. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Playing Now On The Tube.

Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency: When I'm cleaning Windows
http://detectiveagency.blogspot.com/2007/05/when-im-cleaning-windows.html
Sunday, May 13, 2007. When I'm cleaning Windows. It's amazing how much clutter you create on your PC after a while. I am reasonably strict about my folder layout, and what goes where.the problem is that I change my system with the next install and don't bother re-aligning everything. It does not help that Microsoft set down the laws like My Pictures, My Music. Etc It kinda forces you to continue the theme to My Websites, My Videos. Etc unless you want them to stand out. Posted by Dirk Gently. Hello Gordo...

The power of the written word: May 2007
http://novelextracts.blogspot.com/2007_05_01_archive.html
Thursday, May 10, 2007. The Long Dark Tea-Time Of The Soul by Douglas Adams. The trouble with the sort of shop that sells things like magnifying glasses and penknives is that they tend also to sell all kinds of other fascinating things, like the quite extraordinary device with which Dirk eventually emerged after having been hopelessly unable to decide between the knife with the built-in Philips screwdriver, toothpick and ball-point pen and the one with the 13-tooth gristle saw and the tig- welded rivets.

Just another tiny gust of wind in the storm: Return of the mainframe?
http://mosquitofart.blogspot.com/2007/05/this-is-test-post-i-want-to-set-all-my.html
Tuesday, May 08, 2007. Return of the mainframe? The PC has evolved from being standalone machines which don't talk to each other, through dumb terminals which get their resources and documents from a central mainframe, to a combination of both as we have now. Our PCs are now more connected on OUR terms than ever before.although this may be another phase, if we all follow the Google marketing plans. Or is it more likely to be a marketing strategy? Google are the the most popular search engine by a long wa...

Just another tiny gust of wind in the storm: The Vista verdict
http://mosquitofart.blogspot.com/2007/05/vista-verdict.html
Saturday, May 12, 2007. So Microsoft have finally launched the much delayed, much lambasted successor to XP Pro on the general public; who on the whole feel betrayed. So what's the big deal? Is the public reaction fair? I've decided to go into this for the non-techies as a general comparison guide. Microsoft are well known for applying the "most secure Windows yet" tag to their new product, only to have hackers start finding exploits within days. It's a sales pitch, NOT an unbiased opinion. This level of...

The power of the written word: Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency by Douglas Adams
http://novelextracts.blogspot.com/2007/05/test-post.html
Tuesday, May 08, 2007. Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency by Douglas Adams. High on a rocky promontory sat an Electric Monk on a bored horse. From under its rough woven cowl the Monk gazed unblinkingly down into another valley, with which it was having a problem. How long did the Monk believe these things? So what of this horse, then, that actually held opinions, and was skeptical about things? Unusual behavior for a horse, wasn’t it? An unusual horse perhaps? No Although it was certainly a handsome...
