Observations from the blunt end of the music industry. Sunday, September 24, 2006. This morning I listened to a CD that my friend has lent to me. It is a beautiful recording of an organ recital, but I cannot 'hear' the music any more - I am deaf to its charms. My mistake was to read the sleeve-notes, and from them to find from them that the recording was made on the organ of the Frauenkirche. Dresden; in the December of 1944. That was unleashed upon Dresden. Posted by fwyalchen at 8:39 PM. Which is about...

Observations from the blunt end of the music industry. Tuesday, May 10, 2011. Someone said to me earlier that "classical music is boring" and that they "only like things that immediately grab" them. The person involved seems to lack the concept of 'proactive immersion' in an experience. Should try to grab what you. I wish I'd asked the person in question if they'd cook a special meal, put it on a plate, and wait for it to jump into their mouth. Posted by fwyalchen at 8:02 PM. View my complete profile.

Observations from the blunt end of the music industry. Friday, September 02, 2011. A filmless camera opened its shutter - closed. I knew I'd see her again. Her backwards look with pain at parting. I knew I'd see her again. Her backwards look with pain now departing. Gone Never to see her sweet face again. Posted by fwyalchen at 10:25 PM. Aberystwyth, Ceredigion, United Kingdom. Observations from the blunt end of the music industry. Sunday, February 20, 2011. Twenty-six consecutive tweets to keep me amused. It was actually quite hard to do without making anything up. Ll my ideas for wasting a Sunday afternoon seem to have dried up. :o(. Matt-fwyalchen - 15:06 20/02/11. Eer does taste better on a Sunday afternoon than it does at any other juncture of the week. Observations from the blunt end of the music industry. Wednesday, October 13, 2010. The Eyes Have It. It hit me this morning that it's almost exactly a year since my friend, L. Died She lived fast, and died young as a direct result. L. A favourite line of hers and one that will remain with me eternally. Was found dead in her flat. The only blessing being that her eighteen-month-old daughter was staying with grandparents that night. That is obviously a sad and tragic story, and it's one that pops uninvite...

Observations from the blunt end of the music industry. Wednesday, August 25, 2010. I'm back, like it or not. The fingers were getting itchy again after neglecting this page for an unforgivably long time. In fact I've neglected a lot of things for an unforgivably long time. We'll just have to see if a bit of "free typing" will be an effective salve. Many seasons have passed and I've dropped my leaves a couple of times. But hopefully that heralds the return of spring. I'm convinced they were only invented ...

Observations from the blunt end of the music industry. Monday, August 26, 2013. Just the Tip of a Story. About twenty years ago, when I was a mere foundling in the pub and hotel trade, I came across a man who it has taken me the intervening two decades to understand. Mac and the rest of the concrete team eventually finished their works and left the hotel, but for years I had nagging doubts about what he had described - it was too extreme, too fanciful. Staff Sgt. John McAleese, MM. 1949 - 2011).
