Richard's Politics Blog: Guinness Advert: Is it just me?

http://po8crg-politics.blogspot.com/2007/09/guinness-advert-is-it-just-me.html

Richard Gadsden, a Liberal Democrat, discusses political issues, both inward-facing Lib Dem navel-gazing and more general politics. Friday, September 28, 2007. Guinness Advert: Is it just me? Watching the England-Tonga game, there's a Guinness advert with black and white cartoon characters playing rugby. I might be being too sensitive here, but I read it as the good, white smaller team, against the bigger, black bad guys. Is it just me, or is that a racist stereotype? Richard's Politics Blog: Who can vote in the leadership election?

http://po8crg-politics.blogspot.com/2007/10/who-can-vote-in-leadership-election.html

Richard Gadsden, a Liberal Democrat, discusses political issues, both inward-facing Lib Dem navel-gazing and more general politics. Wednesday, October 17, 2007. Who can vote in the leadership election? Finally, Associated Organisations (and Specified Associated Organisations) each have their own rules for eligibility to vote in their internal elections, but I'm not aware of any applying a minimum age limit or a requirement to be a member for a specific period; obviously LDYS has a maximum age limit.

Richard's Politics Blog: Trident and its problems

http://po8crg-politics.blogspot.com/2007/02/trident-and-its-problems.html

Richard Gadsden, a Liberal Democrat, discusses political issues, both inward-facing Lib Dem navel-gazing and more general politics. Friday, February 16, 2007. Trident and its problems. When Trident was introduced, I was in favour. Unlike some people, I hadn't appreciated the impact that Gorbachev was having on the Cold War, and nor had I properly understood the complete lack of independence that the British deterrent has. And as for the Security Council seat? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Richard's Politics Blog: Why Menzies had to go

http://po8crg-politics.blogspot.com/2007/10/why-menzies-had-to-go.html

Richard Gadsden, a Liberal Democrat, discusses political issues, both inward-facing Lib Dem navel-gazing and more general politics. Tuesday, October 16, 2007. Why Menzies had to go. I'm just watching "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" and the guy on it - a firefighter and not an obvious idiot - didn't know that Ming was leader, and clearly had never heard of the name because he couldn't pronounce it. Sorry Ming, but having that total a lack of impact on the popular conciousness: not good enough.

Richard's Politics Blog: Why the European debate misses the point

http://po8crg-politics.blogspot.com/2007/09/why-european-debate-misses-point.html

Richard Gadsden, a Liberal Democrat, discusses political issues, both inward-facing Lib Dem navel-gazing and more general politics. Tuesday, September 18, 2007. Why the European debate misses the point. For some reason, when British people debate the EU, we never seem to debate any of the important questions. For example, the entire debate on the European Reform Treaty is about whether we (ie Britain) should accept it or not - well, and whether we should have a referendum or not. That would never do!

po8crg: Goodbye and thanks for all the fish

http://po8crg.blogspot.com/2006/03/goodbye-and-thanks-for-all-fish.html

Liberal Democrat politics, alternate history, and other random thoughts. Monday, March 06, 2006. Goodbye and thanks for all the fish. I'm splitting my blogging up a bit - this blog is, frankly, an eclectic mess. Having worked out what I'm actually inclined to post on, there are now five new blogs of mine. This blog is going to be my chance to comment on all the things that go on, both internally within the Liberal Democrats and externally too. My alternate history blog. Britain and Great Power Status.

Richard's Alternate History Blog

Richard's Alternate History Blog. Richard Gadsden, founder of soc.history.what-if puts up some alternate history ideas. But go to shwi, it's better! Monday, March 06, 2006. In the seventeenth century, there was a profound crisis of the state-structure of almost every state in Europe. We can see the crisis in not only the obvious events of the English Civil War and the (largely German) Thirty Years' War, but also the Fronde. In France, the Potop. In Poland - and even in post-Gustavus Adolphus Sweden.

Being a Red Sox and baseball fan in a country that thinks baseball is an American version of a girl's game. Tuesday, October 10, 2006. Bit of a low time for starting pitchers, really - check your Lahman, but there are very few people other than Pedro that you'd want anchoring a playoff rotation. Is this an explanation for the Yankees problems since Clemens and Wells left? Well, certainly this is the age group for likely free agent starters. Posted by Richard Gadsden at 10:28 am.
