PointLightLab Notes: Bug - Stupid Random Number Generator rewrite
http://pointlightlab.blogspot.com/2013/03/stupid-random-number-bug.html
Updates on the PointLightLab Software Suite. Tuesday, March 19, 2013. Bug - Stupid Random Number Generator rewrite. Using the new standard library C 0x random number generators is still an aquired taste. Apparently if you initilise a bunch of random numbers together using the time clock, the value is truncated from a long long ( time64 t, time t) down to an unsigned int. Removed one cpp file, two headers and now have less dependancies on boost. (Not a bad thing, just trying to simplify). View my complete...

PointLightLab Notes: December 2015
http://pointlightlab.blogspot.com/2015_12_01_archive.html
Updates on the PointLightLab Software Suite. Friday, December 18, 2015. PLL 45.x Reboot. Ok, got a bit of perspective and what I deludely call a stable base to work from. 1) I can compile what I am calling the 4.5.0 codebase. This includes the full suite of tools. This includes the installer projects. This will install on Windows 7 but crashes in the Player. Also needs two changes to the xmlConfig file to turn off the parallel port and set the refresh rate to 60. Question. Will this run on XP? Somewhere ...

Stratasphere: February 2013
http://stratasphere.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html
My head in the cloud. Friday, February 15, 2013. Access RecordSource and Dynaset not showing records. Just had a weird moment in Access land. I have two forms that have been in use for a couple of years, suddenly they will not display records as I expected them to. After reading some forums, I found the solution here. The thing that is bothering me the most, is how did this come to be a bug I am only just finding? Have the properties been reset somehow? Has a patch fixed something? Links to this post.

Stratasphere: Updating my web editor - or the great dreamweaver debate....
http://stratasphere.blogspot.com/2015/02/updating-my-web-editor-or-great.html
My head in the cloud. Tuesday, February 10, 2015. Updating my web editor - or the great dreamweaver debate. I have been using Dreamweaver CS4 since. a while now. As I was only doing a bit of simple web gui work mostly with tricky clientside javascript but fairly basic hand coded interfaces. CS4 was fine. I have recently landed with a whole pile of projects that are very GUI dependant. Active websites and quite complex web apps. Trying to hand code all this stuff is just painful. The level of entanglement...

Stratasphere: Why Solar power systems suck
http://stratasphere.blogspot.com/2015/02/why-solar-power-systems-suck.html
My head in the cloud. Wednesday, February 18, 2015. Why Solar power systems suck. I have just finished my yearly research into the current solar schemes and system prices, I have come to the conclusion that its a big scam and will continue to be for some time. Let me be clear that I am talking about urban, grid connected systems with easy availability of grid electricity. This is not about remote area power or fridge power (where the quality of the grid is a bit wobbly). About the only way that you can m...

PointLightLab Notes: September 2011
http://pointlightlab.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
Updates on the PointLightLab Software Suite. Friday, September 16, 2011. PointLightLab v4.5.10. Added "Merge Close Dots" tool to Model Editor. This tool merges any dots in the model together if they are within a specified threshold distance. Useful for simplifying models or overlaying and merging models together. Also fixed up the compile chain for the help files. Now I just need to actually update all the help file content. Monday, September 5, 2011. Version 4.5.9. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Stratasphere: Make your own game or make your own reality bubble - Games for stress disorder therapy
http://stratasphere.blogspot.com/2013/12/make-your-own-game-or-make-your-own.html
My head in the cloud. Wednesday, December 11, 2013. Make your own game or make your own reality bubble - Games for stress disorder therapy. I have been kicking around the idea of an article on how players create their own games within games or game environments. This is a bit of a ramble to get some of the thoughts out on paper and explore the topic a bit. What happens when the populations are 1 and 1? Which is the normal and which is the crazy? Now we move into the realm of the player-as-objective-setter.
