questionthevalueofblogs: summer dreams
http://questionthevalueofblogs.blogspot.com/2011/01/summer-dreams.html
Wednesday, January 12, 2011. Exactly 6 months ago today, I took the picture above of the red zinnia, surrounded by lush greenery. I didn't bother, I like it fine. Sorry to digress a bit there. Snow is beautiful, the long low rays of the sun in winter can add magic to a picture. Beauty is not enough. How is one to stay in touch with living things when they are snug, covered with snow and inaccessible, for the most part. To illustrate the loveliness of winter, I illustrate with a photo taken yesterday:.

Boulder Crecian: May 2007
http://bouldercrecian.blogspot.com/2007_05_01_archive.html
Musings by me. Also probably an occasional post about knitting. Indulge me. Friday, May 11, 2007. Many of you have probably seen this little animated clip. I showed the clip to Julian last night. And my sweet, sensitive little boy got very quiet near the end, as the kiwi stuck out his little winglets. Then he said out loud, "But he's going to DIE! And then, of course, the final thump. At the end. He needed some hugs and distraction to move on from this little heartstring puller. Thursday, May 10, 2007.

Spokane Workshop: Notes from a 2007 Dreamweaver Class
http://budkeosity.blogspot.com/2010/01/notes-from-2007-dreamweaver-class.html
Naked civic boosterism, the ongoing trials of an old mostly-not-haunted Charming Wreck of a house, cake, yarn, cats, and cake. Friday, January 8, 2010. Notes from a 2007 Dreamweaver Class. In 2007, my company sent three of us to a Dreamweaver class put on by Compumaster at the airport Ramada. We learned nothing except why you should never take classes from Compumaster. Apparently I did make some notes (and doodles) on various sheets of Ramada note pad stationary which I rediscovered this morning. While w...

Spokane Workshop: April 2008
http://budkeosity.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html
Naked civic boosterism, the ongoing trials of an old mostly-not-haunted Charming Wreck of a house, cake, yarn, cats, and cake. Friday, April 11, 2008. Ginkgo Watch 2008 - April. And, it really was a positive change. The amphitheater is visible again (and rehabilitation has begun). You can see the river now where it splits to surround the park. And this area now looks like it is part of Riverfront Park, and not some forgotten corner. Tuesday, April 8, 2008. I was also fairly close to Millennium Park which...

questionthevalueofblogs: Talking with Thic Nhat Hanh
http://questionthevalueofblogs.blogspot.com/2007/05/talking-with-thic-nhat-hanh.html
Tuesday, May 1, 2007. Talking with Thic Nhat Hanh. I've been doing yoga, following a video instructor. Since I'm doing yoga in the Midwest, I'll simply say that it's pretty good. In fact, I've stuck with it for nearly 3 months now ( shhh. Hold down the gasps of amazement). I've continued using the same video the same video yes the same video because it helps me unfrazzle. The exercises aren't hard. I look funny doing tree pose, balancing on one leg, because periodically I go " oof. This caught my attenti...

questionthevalueofblogs: Dying
http://questionthevalueofblogs.blogspot.com/2007/05/dying.html
Thursday, May 31, 2007. Last night, my brother-in-law called to say that my mother-in law is dying. So tomorrow the 2 of us, accompanied by our faithful labrador retriever, will get in the car and drive 5 or so hours to spend some time with her and the family. There are lots of issues here with family, but I'm mostly leaving those out. Everybody has issues. If you're interested in issues, watch. I'm considering what books to pack. For me, that is a first line of coping. Which is a memoir of her grief?

questionthevalueofblogs: How many books to read at once?
http://questionthevalueofblogs.blogspot.com/2007/04/how-many-books-to-read-at-once.html
Friday, April 27, 2007. How many books to read at once? Right now, I am reading. By Neil Gaiman,. 2) The Miracle of Mindfulness. By Thich Nhat Hanh. 3) The Power and the Glory. Sometimes I stop and read a poem or just a few lines from Gerard Manley Hopkins. His language is such concentrated eloquence, I cannot absorb much without becoming breathless at his words. Story-telling and the internet. Yet I cherish what is face to face even more, conversations that ramble on a big porch, collages of stories tha...
