Not another dry weekend…. March 6, 2011. Maddy in one of the quarries, with the Torver Beck fall in the background. Saturday we headed over to Grizedale for a bike ride, unfortunately the West half of the forest was closed due to the Malcom Wilson Rally but we managed to entertain ourselves for a couple of hours in the East. Sunday saw us ghyll scrambling in Church Beck. Its a beautiful little gorge and being able to slide/jump/swim/abseil down it really gave you the opportunity to appreciate it. Sunday ...

Blyth Tall Ship has acquired a 100 year old Baltic Trader, with the help of the Heritage Lottery Fund, that we hope to refit and recreate the original voyage of Captain William Smith that discovered the first land in Antarctica in 1819. She is almost exactly the same hull size and configuration as the original Williams although with a vastly more efficient rig from that of a Brig.
