Dave Luciano's Portfolio

Hi My name is Dave Luciano. I grew up in the great state of New Jersey, where tomatoes flourish, fists are pumped, and gas attendants greet you at the side of your car. At the ripe age of 18, I left the Garden State and headed west to sunny California. There, I attended Stanford University and currently live on the Peninsula. As an employee of your company, you can expect me to do a healthy amount of user outreach along with making sure that the UI is sleek, intuitive, and easy to use. Applied to it....

The Life of Dave. Portfolio & Resume. This Week Was Fantastic. Sooooo many great things have happened this week. I got an internship! I’ll be working on user experience design at Efficiency 2.0. In New York City this summer. I’m really excited to get started because user centered design is. What I want to do after college, so I could not have asked for a better opportunity. Plus, I got a compliment on my “raw HCI schooling,” which is always nice. I’m working commencement! I get to go to LA for a weekend!

The Life of Dave. Portfolio & Resume. Archive for March, 2012. Posted in Design Thinking. On March 19th, 2012 by Dave – 2 Comments. A nice article that I came across awhile back and have meaning to post about for awhile. I’m obviously biased here, since I mean “nice” in terms of it’s nice that UX is my career path of choice. Is this the beginning of the “Success by UX” era? You are currently browsing the The Life of Dave. Blog archives for March, 2012.

Fudgy brownies are even more delicious, and honestly, who likes cakey brownies? Tip #1: Use a small pan. Tip #2: No small pan? Use two boxes of mix. Tip #3: Don’t overbake them. Let your brownies bake any longer than what the box says. If you’re using a really small pan, though, you might want to let...Brownie...

The Life of Dave. Portfolio & Resume. Over the past couple of months, for some odd reason, I’ve been asked one question over and over and over: “Where are you going to live after college? 8221; Each time I’m asked that question, I pause, not sure what to say, because I honestly have no clue. So, I’ve decided to make a list of pros and cons for each coast. It’ll be a fight to the death of sorts. Pros for New Jersey:. You don’t need to pump your own gas (and it’s cheaper). That thing was just annoying.

The Life of Dave. Portfolio & Resume. Just finished reading the Steve Jobs bio. I think this is my favorite quote:. My passion has been to build an enduring company where people were motivated to make great products. Everything else was secondary. Sure, it was great to make a profit, because that was what allowed you to make great products. But the products, not the profits, were the motivation. The Life of Dave. Portfolio & Resume. Tim Berners-Lee on the WWW. The World Wide Web (which is not the Internet, mind you), wasn’t really what we think of it today until around 1993, when the first GUI-based browser was released for it. Prior to that, though, the WWW was being worked on by Tim Berners-Lee at CERN. In August of 1991, Berners-Lee released an alpha version. Of the “WorldWideWeb application”, and ended the release message with this comment:. Feed Both comments and pings are currently closed.

The Life of Dave. Portfolio & Resume. Archive for February, 2012. A Good UX Mantra. Posted in Design Thinking. On February 28th, 2012 by Dave – Comments Off. I’m reading a bit through a user interface design and evaluation text to get some tips on putting together a formal evaluation for QCN Live. And I came across this little nugget:. Test early, test often. I’ve heard this many times before, but I think it’s something that everyone should be reminded of. Tim Berners-Lee on the WWW. If your school is wi...

http://www.daveluciano.com/2012/01/theyve-arrived

The Life of Dave. Portfolio & Resume. The other day I picked up a small package from the post office. Inside was a small box. Within the box were 100 crisp, newly printed personal business cards. For me! They came out amazing, too! I did variations of 5 different colors and 5 different fonts. They all say “I 3 UX” on the back, along with personal details on the front. Makes me feel all official now. If you’re interested, check out Moo.com. You can follow any responses to this entry through the RSS 2.0.
