Postcard from Waterloo: August 2009
http://postcardfromwaterloo.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html
Tuesday, August 25, 2009. According to an old. The comet is “a celestial body having a solid head surrounded by a nebulous luminescent cloud and an elongated curved vapor tail arising when the head approaches the sun.” In the Middle Ages, the comet caused both fear and wonder. In 1986's modern times, Halley's Comet swung by for an exciting visit. The comet arriving is a versatile wrist cuff. It's crocheted using a sportweight. Yarn, scrap amts. Hook size: F (3.75mm). Two ½ inch buttons. To med. wrists.
Postcard from Waterloo: March 2010
http://postcardfromwaterloo.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
Tuesday, March 30, 2010. It's so nice to have April begin with sunny weather. It seemed like March was nothing but rain. In mid-March, on a day with huge wind gusts and torrential downpours,. And I spent the day in New York. I've never seen so many broken, abandoned umbrellas but what really impressed me were the hearty souls bicycling through the New York streets in the pouring rain. We managed to stayed dry for a good amount of time at Habu Textiles. Book, made from Habu yarn. I'll include some oth...

Thursday, September 24, 2009. My berry stained hands. The last time I was at Webs I got some Berroco. My apologies, here's a really blurry photo of me wearing them. I seemed to have deleted the good photo! And, a beautiful woven cloth I was rewarded with from Missouri Trouble. Thursday, September 24, 2009. Monday, September 07, 2009. Made while watching the US Open. Elsebeth Lavold Hempathy, 2.75 mm hook. The stunning cloth underneath was a handwoven gift from my sister, Jenny. Monday, September 07, 2009.

Missouri Trouble: Hiatus
http://missouritrouble.blogspot.com/2010/11/hiatus.html
Weaving, spinning, knitting, and other diversions in the heart of the midwest. Monday, November 1, 2010. I'm going to take a break from my blog for a while. I have a few projects that I'd like to focus my attention on, so I'll leave you for now with a poem and warm wishes for the season of celebrating which is just around the corner. Take care! Let me lean on you, goldfinch. Your flashing wings the crutches. To steady my halting footsteps. Welcome back from your summer sojourn. An aspirin of melody.
Missouri Trouble: Two Spins and A Knit
http://missouritrouble.blogspot.com/2010/12/two-spins-and-knit.html
Weaving, spinning, knitting, and other diversions in the heart of the midwest. Monday, December 20, 2010. Two Spins and A Knit. Two spins and a knit - what does that mean? Well, those are the three fiber projects that I've completed in December so far. Two skeins of soft, luxurious goodness. I can see it as warp for an elegant woven scarf, using a bombyx silk yarn as weft. And tried my hand at designing a mitten. It was definitely a learning experience. With several balls of Telemark still in my ...So th...
Missouri Trouble: Winter White
http://missouritrouble.blogspot.com/2011/01/winter-white.html
Weaving, spinning, knitting, and other diversions in the heart of the midwest. Wednesday, January 5, 2011. Lately there has been a lot of white around, both outside. This was my first attempt at designing my own mitten pattern. The process was both fun and challenging for me. I know I definitely learned as I went along. On a second pair, I would do a few things differently, but overall I'm satisfied with them. I like to call them the Makem and Clancy Mittens. As part of their fundraising efforts. Its fun...

Weaving, spinning, knitting, and other diversions in the heart of the midwest. Tuesday, July 20, 2010. A Garden Junkie Goes to Heaven. For myself and 300 like-minded people, heaven was in Iowa this past weekend. Decorah, Iowa to be precise, way up in the northeast corner of the state. Enthusiastic gardeners from across the country gathered at the Seed Savers Exchange. Several breeds of poultry also live on the farm in the growing season. The chickens with the kooky headdresses were fun to watch but I...

Weaving, spinning, knitting, and other diversions in the heart of the midwest. Tuesday, September 28, 2010. The rose turtleheads have thrived in all our summer rain. From a couple of transplants two years ago, there is now a growing colony at the pond's edge. I love to gently squeeze one of the blooms and watch the "turtle" open his mouth. They're certainly interesting, but aren't you thankful for chlorophyll-producing lifeforms? As usual it's wonderful to welcome in a new season. Like spring, autumn...

Weaving, spinning, knitting, and other diversions in the heart of the midwest. Wednesday, March 31, 2010. It's Here, Definitely. Here are the signs -. To our winter-dulled taste buds? All around the yard and across the pond under the trees, clusters of daffodils are blooming. Is there anyone who doesn't like daffodils? Wait a minute. Is this a sign of spring? The pattern for the little hedgehog is from Fiber Trends, a Debbie Radtke design. The yarns are Cascade 220 Heathers and Lion Brand Fun Fur....

Missouri Trouble: August 2010
http://missouritrouble.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Weaving, spinning, knitting, and other diversions in the heart of the midwest. Wednesday, August 25, 2010. Late summer seems to be here. Orange school busses are rumbling through town, the college students have returned (and all seem to be driving at the exact same time.) Best of all, this morning it was a glorious 57 degrees outside when I got up! For now, here's a rundown of my smaller, less-taxing completed summer knitting projects. A Quartet of Washcloths. A Hempathy Soap Sock. That's it for now....
Missouri Trouble: February 2010
http://missouritrouble.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
Weaving, spinning, knitting, and other diversions in the heart of the midwest. Monday, February 22, 2010. Last month, even though I worked diligently on many of my fiber projects, I didn't finish any of them. Not a one. Although I'm fairly patient, I do need to savor the satisfaction of completion from time to time. This month I kept plugging along and now, even though it's late in the month, I have two finished projects to share. I'm calling this handspun yarn Missouri Dark Chocolate. Well then, two pro...

postcards from the south, love the north
Sunday, August 7, 2011. A Reason To Return. I've been really lazy when it comes to writing lately. I think I've put myself in a mindset of "I'll get to it when the business blog is finished, complete, ready to go", which has meant that it's been since March that I've written anything, never mind something personal. Today, however, I am happy for so many reasons, and so thankful for so many more. Afterwards, this lovely woman was chatting with us and asked us about what we do, etc. I mentioned I was a...

Postcard From Utopia | Second Sex & The City
Second Sex and The City. About Second Sex and The City. A Day In The Life of a Virtual Nightclub Owner. June 23, 2008. I think it was August 2007 when I first wrote on the subject of the reality of running a virtual business. I think I published it on a friends blog and an old one I had. Nearly 1-year on I decided to write a day in the life of what I do now with the entire region, and all the businesses that are contained within it. 12:02] Cherish Carver: with no one sides us is boring. 2008/06/23 12:07]...

Postcard from Waterloo
Tuesday, January 18, 2011. It's such a mess outside right now - cold, snowy, icy rain, slushy foot-deep puddles. I need a dose of something cute, like these cat slippers. I love the embroidered bees and wasps and triangle trim. I believe they're of Chinese origin, photographed at work. Wish I had a pair for my wet feet. I'll have to make do making a pot of tea in a hand-thrown pot made by a former coworker many years ago. The hot pad is a single crochet simple square motif of Habu cotton yarn. Here's a p...
