In many applications including robotics, body area sensing, and test instrumentation, wire connection to sensors allows the sensor size and cost to be dramatically reduced, and data transmission to be simplified. The highly-miniaturized, fully-encapsulated nature of our embedded component packages is very well matched to wired sensor applications. The examples shown at the right demonstrate two approaches to wired connection of sensing systems.

The module embedded component module on this small wireless orientation sensor contains an STMicro 3 axis accelerometer and a 3 axis magnetometer. Sensor signal processing and interfacing of the sensor and the 2.4 GHz wireless transceiver is accomplished with a TI MSP430FR5729 microcontroller. Power for the sensor is provided by a CR1632 battery on the back side.
