Henry of Ghent: 2011.09
http://henryofghent.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
All Things Pertaining to the Solemn Doctor. Last week I returned to All Souls College in Oxford for my viva voce, and passed! However, I've not got much time to waste these days in celebrating because I've got a (accepted) journal article to revise (titled: "Henry of Ghent on Real Relations and the Trinity: The Case For Numerical Sameness Without Identity"), and an old article on Thomas Aquinas to review in preparation for being published again elsewhere. It feels great when things are going forward!

Henry of Ghent: What's Next: Duns Scotus
http://henryofghent.blogspot.com/2012/04/whats-next-duns-scotus.html
All Things Pertaining to the Solemn Doctor. What's Next: Duns Scotus. I have recently begun working on my chapter contribution, about John Duns Scotus, for the forthcoming Oxford Handbook of the Epistemology of Theology. 2015) In a way this will be a culmination of my thoughts on Duns Scotus and some recent theologians' negative views of Scotus's theory of the univocity of the concept of being for God and creatures. What sort of knowledge is this? Does faith play a major role in our knowledge of God?

All Things Pertaining to the Solemn Doctor. It is possibly misleading to say that the CLT. Constitutional Latin Trinitarianism) position affirms that (1)-(3) are predications. It might be better to go with what Brower and Rea have called sameness without identity. Instead of God, Ill use the divine essence. So, recasted in this way we get:. 1*) The Father is the same as but not identical with the Divine Essence. 2*) The Son is the same as but not identical with the Divine Essence. Links to this post.

All Things Pertaining to the Solemn Doctor. Dispositions and Habits of Mind. Here are some ways to look at this. We might ask whether thinking of something is (a) relatively easy or (b) takes some effort, and whether your thought has (c) simple or (d) propositional intentional content (what do you think when you think of something). If (a) - (d) are sufficiently helpful, we get the following combinations. Links to this post. Henry of Ghent's Works Now Online. Links to this post. If, therefore, we did not...

The philosophical differences between Aristotle and Thomas Aquinas. Asymp; Leave a comment. Joseph Owens, in an essay in the Cambridge Companion to Aquinas, examines some of the substantial differences between the two philosophers that demonstrate the cleavages. [1]. For Thomistic thought then, this issue is pivotal to the Christian philosophical project. In Aquinas’ Commentary on the Sentences, he explicates this In the thing there are both the quiddity of the thing and it’s being. So in the int...It ca...
