All on the Field sports blog: Separated at Birth: Vernon Wells and Miguel Batista
http://allonthefield.blogspot.com/2007/08/separated-at-birth-vernon-wells-and.html
Aug 31, 2007. Separated at Birth: Vernon Wells and Miguel Batista. It's been a while since I've pulled one of these out, but a fresh connection finally occurred to me Monday night at the Mariners' game. Wells (above) has struggled this year after signing a sizeable contract extension; Batista has found his groove in Seattle and put together a career-best season. Maybe that's why Toronto got rid of Batista. No-one could tell them apart. August 31, 2007 at 7:12 AM. August 31, 2007 at 10:42 AM. Jerome Betti...

Jul 8, 2007. Separated at Birth: Rafael Nadal and Apollo Ohno? Today begins what I hope is a long and successful series here at All on the Field: Separated at Birth. The newspaper I grew up reading, used to run a column with this feature, and I always had three or four that they could use if only they asked. They never did, so this time and this place is my chance to shine. Good one. My favorite was always Robert Horry and Will Smith. July 9, 2007 at 11:48 AM. September 18, 2007 at 5:00 PM. All on the Field sports blog: Tiger's absence: good or bad for the sport?
http://allonthefield.blogspot.com/2008/06/tigers-absence-good-or-bad-for-sport.html
Jun 19, 2008. Tiger's absence: good or bad for the sport? Nice piece by Rick Morrissey in the Chicago Tribune, outlining all the reasons. Why Tiger missing the rest of the season is bad news for the PGA. But, as Morrissey points out, each of the tournament winners will have a figurative asterisk by their name, and the sports world will wonder how things had been different if Woods had played. Tiger, we can all agree, has become the standard. Now that's he's gone, though, perhaps a young, underachieving g...

Tuesday, December 9, 2008. So how bout them Steelers? Scoring 14 points in a 24 second span is a good way to begin a playoff push, is it not? Thankfully Deshea Townsend CAUGHT the ball when Tony Romo threw it his way, or else this could be a completely different conversation. So down to the specifics. So that's about all their is to say about the offense - they may not be very good, but at least they score when they have to. Pic from knbr.com). Ben can score alright. Monday, April 13, 2009. Ok guys, I just wanted to throw a quick state of the Bucs address out there.hope you enjoy! My basic thoughts so far are how well the pitching staff has played and how the offense is shaping up. First, for the pitching. If we plan on being close to .500, this staff has to keep pitching this way. The problem, however, are those games where the bats aren't working, which I suppose is a problem in all MLB Clubhouses, but with our lineup, that could come more often then usual, as seen...

Wednesday, April 1, 2009. Well boys and girls, with the NFL Draft coming up in a few weeks, I felt it was time to tell yinz about a coouple of the guys that numerous mock drafts have us linked to. Now keep in mind, this is all subjust to change based on who's left, etc., but here's the linemen we've been linked to, and next time i'll post about the cornerbacks. If it were up to this humble reporter, Alex Mack would be our first round selection. So what's with all the centers you ask? Pitt's big three of ...

Monday, March 30, 2009. Here's another new entry from our newest contributor, Fat Daddio.he'll be posting about once a week or so, and I'll be posting something on Wednesday. And give Agnus Berenato lots of love. Her team is risen with a bullet, and unlike Dixon, she took over a program with no tradition and fewer players. Her girls may be in over their heads in the NCAAs now, but she's put them on the map. Will a running back step up? Hey, they should be better this year, but they'll go as far as the ro...
