Putney Mountain Hawk Watch. Current Hawk watch counts are available here! SVAS Newsletter and 5 year studys. Since 1987, Waldo and Alma Beals of Saxtons River have been counting hawks from the Hawk Watch on Putney Mountain. Their efforts have resulted in 13 years of continuous data on migrating hawks using the Connecticut River Flyway. Waldo and Alma's enthusiasm and knowledge have infected many others, so that there is now a core group of 15 who act as observers in this effort.
