One new wife figuring out homemaking. One friend at work asked if I made my cover, then followed up the question by saying that it looked like one of those items made to look homemade, I’ll take that as a compliment because of course my off-center closure was on purpose! One new wife figuring out homemaking. My husband sometimes has a hard time waking up in the mornings. To be honest I sleep through his shower, so I suppose I have a harder time getting up. But early in the marriage it was important for us to share our mornings (like every other moment of our day) so we would get up together, I would pack lunches and get breakfast together while Jacob got ready for work. So here’s the recipe. 3 cups bleached all-purpose flour (I never use straight white flour). Toss the c...

One new wife figuring out homemaking. March 7, 2009. Jacob is an amazing husband. I realized the other day while vacuuming before mopping up the kitchen that it was the first time I had actually used the vacuum, we’ve had it for months (and used it! 2016 The Allred Home is proudly powered by WordPress.

One new wife figuring out homemaking. October 21, 2009. My first attempt at increasing the length/life of my wardrobe was undershirts. Nice ones that have enough coverage on the arms and chest and mid-drift that they can cover any piece of clothing’s “short-comings”. The shirts I get are from Down East Basics. But the origin of this post idea was my awesome bargain find! Jacob found me a coupon and got an additional 30% off! But it’s probably good that I was able to spend less that $30. July 21, 2009.

Christmas in August » The Allred Home

One new wife figuring out homemaking. When I first unpacked my sewing materials I cranked out a few cute birds. I have yet to write about them because I have yet to perfect them but I decided they would make good Christmas ornaments (once I figure out how to attach them to a tree…). That got my mind thinking about other ornaments I could make. Taught me so I just took an idea and drawing I made and drew it with thread, freestyle. It was really fun! I’m not quite that pro yet; I can’t really s...I love or...

Covered Ream of Paper » The Allred Home

One new wife figuring out homemaking. Covered Ream of Paper. I couldn’t help much as my pregnant back gets tired easier than it used to, so I just covered his “monitor stand”, which is a fancy term for a ream of paper. But who wants to stare at a pile of paper? I started back to school today, so this will probably be the most crafting I do any time soon but Jacob just got some new woodworking tools so maybe I’ll share any fun thing he gets around to making. Happy New Year! January 10, 2011 admin.

One new wife figuring out homemaking. To get the details on my new allowance, but the just of it is that we each get $6 a week (handed out at FHE) to spend on goodies like vending machine treats or small projects. I had a blast finding ways to stretch my little amount of money. My first day I spent 36 cents on a piece of felt to make a horse for the book I’m making. I watched some videos on knittinghelp.com.
