Sunday, June 19, 2011. You’re going where? Ok I’m going to come out of left field with something that might surprise some of you. But it’s on my heart today so here it is. I’m very excited to let you know that Diane and I are planning a short term mission trip to Cambodia and Thailand. Why in the world go to Cambodia of all places…. It’s a funny thing the way God works. If you would have asked me three years ago would I want to go to Cambodia on missions I would have said unequivocally, no! You’ll ...

Reflections of a Theophile: All that gold...
http://theophiled.blogspot.com/2012/01/this-is-buddhist-temple-wat-phrathat.html
Saturday, January 21, 2012. This is the Buddhist temple Wat Phrathat. It sits 3500 feet above the city of Chiang Mai on the Mt Doi Suthep. It was built some time in the 1300s and all that gold you see here.yep its real.over 100 tons of the stuff. What a waste. View from the top of Doi Suthep. With whom, then, will you compare God? To what image will you liken him? As for an idol, a metalworker casts it,. And a goldsmith overlays it with gold. And fashions silver chains for it. View my complete profile.

Saturday, January 30, 2010. Wells, Wells Everwhere but not a Drop to Drink (Genesis 26). If Isaac had fought against the Philistines for control of the land he may never have seen the end to his troubles. Instead, each time there is conflict Isaac backed off and actually moved rather than quarrel. When you find a roadblock in your path don't immediately try to plow it down. God may have put it there for a reason. But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God" (I Pet&#...

Thursday, February 18, 2010. As You Pass By. We pick up the story in Exodus 33v. 2. I will send an angel before you and drive out the Canaanites, Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites. Go up to the land flowing with milk and honey. But I will not go with you, because you are a stiff-necked people and I might destroy you on the way.". Keep in mind that until this point God has been leading the people with a pillar of cloud by day and fire at night. As You Pass By. Cover me with Your hand.

Reflections of a Theophile: October 2011
http://theophiled.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html
Saturday, October 8, 2011. In Steve Jobs We Trust. I’ve been watching the events surrounding Steve Jobs death this week with interest. I didn’t know much about Jobs other than the fact that he was the charismatic leader and CEO of Apple. Starting with his death earlier this week, my Facebook page lit up with pictures of frowning Macintoshes and memorial web sites. He was known as an erratic and sometimes irrational boss. Jobs is the largest shareholder in the Disney Corporation. Ok so all that said.m...

Reflections of a Theophile: I Have Loved You
http://theophiled.blogspot.com/2014/03/i-have-loved-you.html
Sunday, March 2, 2014. I Have Loved You. Why would God make this statement at this point in history? It’s almost as if he is saying after all we’ve been through together, you and I; after all of it, I just need you to know that I have loved you. Why are you doing this to me? Why are you allowing this to happen? No, it’s the other way around. The father walks into this world and out of all the chaos says, I chose this one to display my glory through. Not because he’s in any way special...Now this situatio...

Reflections of a Theophile: Leading the Angels in Worship
http://theophiled.blogspot.com/2012/01/imagine-that-you-walked-into-heaven-and.html
Wednesday, January 11, 2012. Leading the Angels in Worship. Imagine that you walked into heaven and one of the first jobs you were assigned was to lead the angels in worship. That was my dilemma on Sunday. As we entered the Asia's Hope compound we were met with the usual crush of smiles and laughter and 30 plus voices shouting "Hullo D'ddy! I had been preoccupied with so many things. What song was I going to sing? Would they have a music stand? Would there be a microphone? Would the guitar be in tune?

Tuesday, July 20, 2010. Our Choice.Obediance or Idolatry. 1Sa 15:2-3 This is what the LORD Almighty says: 'I will punish the Amalekites for what they did to Israel when they waylaid them as they came up from Egypt. Now go, attack the Amalekites and totally destroy everything that belongs to them. Do not spare them; put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys.'". Reflections of a Theophile: March 2014
http://theophiled.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
Saturday, March 8, 2014. In my last post I talked about my kids; how it bothers me when they aren’t grateful. Truth be told, I, like Bill Cosby believe all kids are brain damaged. It’s true! How else can you explain a child who is caught red handed in the act of committing some offense and then when the punishment is handed down, they act shocked…dismayed…dumbfounded? What did I do? My daughter will even sometimes get angry and blame ME for being mean! If I am a master, where is the respect due me? I thi...
