August 2014 – raisinghappystrongkids

It's fun to be a parent! Raising Happy Strong Kids. Back to School: First Day Gremlins. August 26, 2014. September 10, 2014. I have five children. Georgina ( G ) is the youngest. She is 14. And she is the one causing grey hairs to sprout abundantly from my scalp, if old wives’ tale about correlation between lack of follicular colour and stress is to be believed. She said with a jut of her chin. ‘You can’t see my knickers, can you? And anyway, I am wearing shorts underneath. And why is that so? You can’t ...

It's fun to be a parent! Raising Happy Strong Kids. June 25, 2015. June 25, 2015. Or do you mean. The man called Antonio Castellano said. I think he was smiling at the thought of my poor mastery of his mother tongue, though scarily enough, most of my outpourings in Italian are about him. Whatever it is, he is my inspiration (ah, the English language is so much simpler! Years later, I often asked myself, Why am I continued to be inspired by Antonio, why could I not get his words out of my mind? I told the...

It's fun to be a parent! Raising Happy Strong Kids. Why I advocate NO PLASTIC TOYS for children. August 25, 2015. August 25, 2015. I first became a mum at 17. Back in those days, I was fiery, idealistic and willing to fight till death for my ideals. When doting grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends bought plastic toys for our kids, I would politely return them and caused a lot of bad feelings. At 47, I would probably do things differently these days. It doesn’t make sense, right? By compelling...

It's fun to be a parent! Raising Happy Strong Kids. The Joy of Learning. May 25, 2015. The world is full of magic to be discovered, and it was my children’s library and laboratory during their childhood years. I would like to begin by saying that I am not an educationalist, but my children’s father is. He has a Bachelor of Education degree from King Alfred’s College, Winchester, but the best of his education philosophy (in my humble belief) comes from his mother. May 23, 2015. Too many parents are caught...

https://newmuminrecovery.wordpress.com/2016/05

New mum in recovery. 8230;this is my life. It’s a holiday weekend! Whilst I’m not working it does mean that LH is off work for 3 days! I enjoy family time. In the weeks its more of a few snatched hours together but when its the weekend we can go for coffee and walks and sit in the garden. Friday and Saturday nights are also amazing as he shares the night feeds and I get a bit more sleep! Not just a small twitch of the lips buy a big full on smile! 🙂 I felt lifted when I was driving back from her house.

New mum in recovery. 8230;this is my life. For some reason I’m really anxious and full of fear today. I can’t place why and i’m trying to figure out why I feel this way. There are several things going on I think…. Yesterday I had to deal with two messages off people that I no longer have anything in common with. I realise that I used to ‘people please’ both of these individuals because I am scared of what they think of me. I need to work on this. I know it will be with me my whole life. Like alco...I wil...

Saturday, March 5. Post Discovery: Making Sense of Reading Levels for Parents. This post from 123homeschool4me.com is a great "cheat sheet" for people who are trying to get their heads around reading levels. It can be tough because there are several different systems out there to try to understand. Plus, just because a certain system says that a third grader should be reading a certain level doesn't mean it will necessarily be right for your child. Read their post here. Lazy Sunday My Ass

Lazy Sunday My Ass. Lazy Sunday My Ass. Wednesday, February 18, 2015. Since the very first day we brought Harrison home, I have carried him just about any time he wanted me to (which is a lot). I empathize with his desire to be held and toted around. Wouldn't you love to have someone carry you in from a long car ride? Or when you're shopping and your legs decide that they are done carrying you without complaint? Who wouldn't love to be swooped up and carried? When you want to opt out. I want Harrison to ...
