The most important trips aren't about getting somewhere. They're about getting to someone. (via Elliott.org). But in an age of mounting airline fees, reduced in-flight services, uncomfortable security pat-downs and multi-day delays caused by erupting volcanoes, it's easy to forget that. Last night, my husband and I go...

Monday, December 27, 2010. I love the stories about miracles that surface this time of year. I just came across the following post on one of my favorite blogs. I share my own similar miracle at the end. Just for the record, I’m still on vacation until January 2. But, I have had a couple memories surface over the last few Christmas days that I wanted to share with you before the season ends. I have never participated in a performance of Handel’s Messiah when miracles did not happen. A few years ago we had...

Thursday, August 26, 2010. Give 'Em Two Hams! Here is a story that President Grant told about dealing with the devil. A man was asked to donate a choice ham that the ward could eat at their banquet. The man walked out to his smokehouse and chose a choice ham. Then he said to himself, “I don’t have to give my best ham. I could give them any old ham and it would look all right. No one would know the difference.”. President Grant’s triumphant line was, “He was troubled no more.”. Friday, August 20, 2010.

Tuesday, March 30, 2010. The Rich Family In Church. I'll never forget Easter 1946. I was 14, my little sister Ocy was 12, and my older sister Darlene 16. We lived at home with our mother, and the four of us knew what it was to do without many things. My dad had died five years before, leaving Mom with seven school kids to raise and no money. We made $20 on pot holders. That month was one of the best of our lives. We ran all the way home to show Mom and Darlene. We had never had so much money before.

Saturday, February 27, 2010. There's nothing wrong with him. There is nothing wrong with your son. Teach him to whom he must go in order to turn his weaknesses to strengths.". Thursday, February 25, 2010. Traveling down the interstate and needing to use the restroom,. I stopped at a rest area and headed to the restroom. I was barely sitting down when I heard a voice from the other stall saying:. Hi, how are you? I'm not the type to start a conversation in the restroom and I don't know what got into me,.

Sunday, April 25, 2010. 1 I think part of a best friend's job should be to immediately clear your computer history if you die. 2 Nothing is worse. Than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong. 3 I totally take back all those times I didn't want to nap when I was younger. 4 There is great need for a sarcasm font. 5 How the heck are you supposed to fold a fitted sheet? 6 Was learning cursive really necessary? 9 I can't remember the last time I wasn't at least kind of tired. 16 I hate l...

Wednesday, April 25, 2012. We’ve had a lot of fun happenings around here the past several weeks. Birthdays, holidays and visits have made for one party after another! Samuel turned 7 the end of March. Love this guy! He is such a good kid. I’ve decided I love decorating our front room wall with the party theme (or actually I love watching Chuck decorate the wall). Chuck also made this mummy piñata. It was almost a little too durable! We thought Jenna’s Minnie Mouse cake turned out so cute we might a...
