Curiosity Killed the Bookworm: Annihilation
http://www.curiositykilledthebookworm.net/2015/07/annihilation.html
Thursday, 30 July 2015. By the time we were ready to cross the border, we knew everything… and we knew nothing. They took away our names in the second month, stripped them from us. The only names applied to things in Area X, and only in terms of their most general label. The nature of Area X makes the biologist the perfect perspective to introduce us to this world where the plant-life is more than meets the eye. I understand the next book in the trilogy is from a different narrator, which pleases me&...

Curiosity Killed the Bookworm: All Involved
http://www.curiositykilledthebookworm.net/2015/07/all-involved.html
Monday, 27 July 2015. In 1992, when the white cops who beat Rodney King were acquitted of assault and walked away scot free, racial tensions in Los Angeles flared and triggered six days of rioting. In the South Central neighbourhood of Lynwood, another story plays out, telling the untold stories of the people mixed up in the lawlessness. The sheriffs never abandon the town in western movies. It’d be un-American. But it’s happening here. Transports the reader to a city that feels like a war zone. You plun...

Die Again by Tess Gerritsen | reading in bed
https://frangireadinginbed.wordpress.com/2015/03/11/die-again-by-tess-gerritsen/comment-page-1
Now That You’re Gone by Julie Corbin. Die Again by Tess Gerritsen. March 11, 2015. Tess Gerritsen is absolutely one of my favourite authors. I’ve read all of the books in the Rizzoli and Isles series, so was really excited when the latest one was released! This book focuses tightly on the plot and not so much on Jane Rizzoli and Maura Isles’ characters. The writing is fantastic, exciting and clever, I was completely absorbed in what was happening. For me this was a great thriller, full of detail and atmo...

TheBookAddictedHousewife: July 2014

Wednesday, 23 July 2014. A Place to Call Home. My rating: 5 of 5 stars. I have never been disappointed by a Carole Matthews book and I am delighted to say that this one ticks all the boxes too. With Ayesha’s natural inclination to feed and love she repays the kindness she receives with her Indian cooking and understanding and the whole house finds themselves becoming what can only be described as an unconventional but functioning family and that new and happy beginnings can happen. My rating: 5 of 5 stars.
