While there is truth within this narrative, it does not tell the whole story.” Well said, Liz! And nice work with the new platform. A very elegant design. I’m looking forward to reading about more truths encountered along the way. Does my subscription come with a tote bag? September 9, 2010 10:19 pm. This is wonderful. Wednesday, April 27, 2011. Washington DC in the Spring. While all you folks in the Northwest, Midwest and North are complaining about snow, sleet, rain and cold, we in the Mid-Atlantic are skipping work to go play out in the 80 degree temperatures (shhhh, don't tell my boss). From I'm from Washington STATE. So I buried them again. :) Here is the list of what's growing in the garden:. Kale (three or four differen types). Yellow Squash (two different kinds). Cucumbers (maybe - they might have died). Subscr...

I'm from Washington STATE: One Pull Up. Just one.
http://emilyinwashington.blogspot.com/2011/01/one-pull-up-just-one.html
Friday, January 21, 2011. One Pull Up. Just one. Okay, so I know you all think I'm super strong and sometimes super human, but what you don't know is that I've never done a pull up IN MY LIFE. Once, in middle school, I jumped up to the bar during the fitness test and so the momentum allowed me to appear to have done a pull up and my P.E. teacher didn't see me jump so he thought I did one. So, on my fitness test form that year, under pullups, it said "1." Which was a lie. Posted by Emily Doerr.

I'm from Washington STATE: Government Shutdown: What does this mean to you?
http://emilyinwashington.blogspot.com/2011/02/government-shutdown-what-does-this-mean.html
Wednesday, February 23, 2011. Government Shutdown: What does this mean to you? I work for the government, yes, but it didn't occur to me until last week what a shutdown would do. My mom called me to ask what I knew about it and she said how this would dramatically effect her show in Atlantic City, March 10, 2011, Alliance Mid-Atlantic 2011. Just to get an idea of the brief history of what it means. There is also a great article from PBS Newshour. Which lays out how a shutdown effects us individually.

Tuesday, August 31, 2010. Lyle Lovett and His Large Band. If you have ever had the pleasure (or displeasure) of spending summertime on the East Coast you may be familiar with the incessant and eardrum killing sound of the. At night. The sound tends to be so loud that you must pause mid-sentence to wait for the sound to subside. Laying on the blankets at Wolf Trap. This Large Band, as they are called is what makes Lyle Lovett's performances such great entertainment. For 2 straight hours he and his ban...

Thursday, April 28, 2011. I don't know if I mentioned that I'm taking a Master Gardener course through my work. USDA offered 120 spots in a free (shortened) Master Gardener training. Once we finish the training and pass the exam we must complete 40 hours of gardening volunteer work to be certified. It's a pretty cool idea, and while I have some criticism, it's definitely a good experience. On one of my new favorite blogs, Garden Rant. Posted by Emily Doerr. Wednesday, April 27, 2011. Tuesday, November 23, 2010. The Northwest Is The Best Place On Earth. Biking to the OSU's campus. (Jed, embarrassingly wearing Michigan colors - oh the shame! Jed's friend's bus. They built the bus to watch OSU games. Behind the bus are coolers upon coolers of beer and another gigantor TV. The owners of the bus (there are 3), rent out the front lawn of college students' houses to tailgate before/during OSU games. Our next cultural stop of the weekend was the Circleville, OH, Pumpkin Show. Powell's Bookst...

Thursday, July 15, 2010. Buenos Aires was fabulous, I'll post more about that later, with pictures. We honestly didn't manage to do much in the way of tourism so the pictures are mostly just of Dan. You'll all be surprised to know that Abigail, Elizabeth and I didn't partake, in fact, we went to bed early. (I actually read my book until the partying calmed down.) Exciting bunch we were. Headed back to the heat of DC tomorrow. Ciao, Chile, ciao por ahora. Posted by Emily Doerr. Thursday, July 8, 2010.
