Tynan's Recovery

Tuesday, August 31, 2010. I'll keep this short and relay it what I have seen from my perspective. Before Tynan was diagnosed and while practitioners (ie speech therapist) was gently nudging me toward further evaluations, there were a few roadblocks/misconceptions that prevented us from seeing the clear picture. If we had been brave enough to really look and listen, we could have gotten him help a full YEAR earlier. Yes, stubborn heads in this house. 2 He doesn't flap his hands so he does not have autism.

Tynan's Recovery: January 2009

http://www.recoveringtynan.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html

Sunday, January 11, 2009. Liam on left listening to his music while Tynan listens to his 'special' music}. There is this therapy called Therapeutic Listening that we have started with Tynan's occupational therapist. A year ago, I would have looked at it and thought it was snake oil. I would have laughed it off as hokey and couldn't possibly imagine that it could do anything for anyone. It's a good thing that I got over that idea. Tynan has severe auditory defensiveness. What does this look like? We've ha...

Tynan's Recovery: February 2010

http://www.recoveringtynan.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html

Tuesday, February 23, 2010. The man at the park. Since Addison chose to take her nap this morning, we were free as birds this afternoon. We loaded up our bikes, shovels and race cars and headed to the park. One of my friends was there, by way of a pleasant surprise. And my boys are friends with her son. A win-win afternoon at the park for us all. The man walked away. I comforted Tynan and told the kids that it was time to go home to make dinner. I am not the least bit concerned about that, sir.". I so ne...

Tynan's Recovery: Kindergarten Field Trip...gone wrong

http://www.recoveringtynan.blogspot.com/2010/06/kindergarten-field-tripgone-wrong.html

Friday, June 18, 2010. Kindergarten Field Trip.gone wrong. Most people get excited to do something different on any given school day, especially when it comes to the end of the year. Tynan wanted to go to his kindergarten picnic. What he didn't want was the chaotic, unpredictable, sensory nightmare that unravelled him. Playtime on the playground was fine. He knows how to manage slides, climbing, swinging, and things that rock. Of course, Tynan got selected as Goose first. OF COURSE HE DID! Back up again&...

Tynan's Recovery: December 2008

http://www.recoveringtynan.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html

Sunday, December 14, 2008. Progress Tynan has made. I should have posted this info in the last post, but I forgot. One year ago, here's a brief description of life with Tynan. Before Addison was born in October, Tynan had about 50 words and rarely used them. He would scream for 'more milk' or whatever item he wanted. Usually his utterances were 1 word in length. But he spent most of his time, silent. Tynan has had some major sensory issues, but a year ago, we didn't know what they were and just thought t...

Life in our Shoes: Taking a Break

http://brosseaufamily.blogspot.com/2010/11/taking-break.html

Life in our Shoes. The Brosseau Family Story. So I've decided that rather than feeling guilty about being so bad about updating my blog I am just going to take an official break from it all. I am trying to be more present in my daily life and sitting in front of the computer is not helping that. I might come back to it, might not. So until we meet again, happy trails! Life in our Shoes. The Brosseau Family Story. 1st Day of Pre-K. Miles started school today and he was very excited. having a bad hair day, but very excited! I LOVE his new teacher, she is awesome and a mature christian so I have high hopes that he might actually get a christian education at his christian school this year (last year I was so NOT impressed! Life in our Shoes. The Brosseau Family Story. I'm really not very good about taking the camera out while we are doing fun activities but here are some random pics of summer fun we've had so far. Picnic on the grass. Miles mesmerized by Shamu. Eli with Bert and Ernie a Sea World. Levi with awesome bedhead. Levi playing in the mud. Best buddies in the backyard pool. I can't believe school starts in 2 weeks for us. Where did the summer go? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile.

Life in our Shoes. The Brosseau Family Story. Not quite sure where my baby went, I blinked and he's 9 months old! Levi Willem has been busy the past month or so working on cutting some teeth, he's got the 2 bottom and now 1 top and working on the second one. He's been a trooper through it all, I haven't given him tylenol once! Levi is pretty much exactly the personality that this photo shows, smiley, bubbly and busy! Could I stand there after losing everyone I love and say all I need is Jesus? Know this ...

Life in our Shoes. The Brosseau Family Story. Look what i did? I found this bread box at Target and had to get it, didn't know what I was going to use it for but I couldn't walk away from it. I've been playing around with what to do with it (I keep my bread in the fridge) and I decided to make it our cocoa station. I know, who needs a cocoa station? Is that the perspective you have when showing love to your mate? That is the challenge, are you up for it, am I? I bought 2 yards and now I think I am going ...

Life in our Shoes: March 2010

http://brosseaufamily.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html

Life in our Shoes. The Brosseau Family Story. We had a few days this week that were gorgeous! It was sunny and about 62 degrees which felt soo warm! Levi finally got to get out and be a boy, playing in the grass and dirt, he loved it. Blowing bubbles with his big bro Eli was a blast (that sentence has a lot of "b's"). I love getting out and playing, today it snowed again but that is fine because I know spring is just around the corner and as long as we get little teases of it I'm all good! Him in anyway ...

Recovering Type A

Fashion mostly the lack thereof. Friday, August 3, 2012. My home office contains random pictures containing significant events and people that are meaningful to me. Next to my desk is a photo of a one-year-old Jack nestled in my arms with Aaron standing behind me. Jack will turn 14 next month. I look at the picture and marvel. The past is murky and events mesh together. As I recall memories, everything is a few years ago and yet when I stop to think the time passed is usually much farther away. I sometim...

Hibachi…south of the border style. August 17, 2014. I don’t know where good service went, did a meteor hit the late night spot they hit after work? And as for the south of the border hibachi where did the pros from Benni Hanna all go? It was very dissapointing as A-Tan has always been a family favorite. I don’t know if it was a bad night or modern metiocrity. But we have learned not to venture to the hibachi side any time soon. One mans view of the reality of reality. Proudly powered by WordPress.
