Daft Wee Runner: Tips for running a race
http://daftweerunner.blogspot.com/2012/07/tips-for-running-race.html
I am the Daft Wee Runner and I want to discuss everything running related. I will review products, talk about races I compete in and write about how I can become a faster runner. Thoughts, comments and well wishes welcome! Wednesday, 11 July 2012. Tips for running a race. Every race has to start by first finding the right race for you. Entry central. Think about the route. I am certainly not one for studying every inch of a race route before the big day, but I would suggest having a quick look at the rou...

Daft Wee Runner: The Runners Nod
http://daftweerunner.blogspot.com/2012/07/the-runners-nod.html
I am the Daft Wee Runner and I want to discuss everything running related. I will review products, talk about races I compete in and write about how I can become a faster runner. Thoughts, comments and well wishes welcome! Wednesday, 18 July 2012. That small nod of the head, shared between runners, says "well done you, for being great". There is a huge amount of smugness in the space between the nods, but this has been earned with every step that has led to the inevitable up and down of the head. Don't f...

Summer Alpine Training: August 2010
http://britishamericanskiing.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
What do ski instructors get up to when there is no snow? Tuesday, 31 August 2010. Straight climb up to La Plagne. Legs still a bit tired from Saturday's tough race so no heroics today. Still, it's always a hard steep climb so good training. Would perhaps have been better with an extra day's rest so as to get a more powerful workout tomorrow. Posted by Ski Coach. Links to this post. Sunday, 29 August 2010. The Epic Battle For Third (last) Place. Saturday 28th August 2010. The Peloton with No Brakes! Dista...

Summer Alpine Training: What happened?
http://britishamericanskiing.blogspot.com/2010/09/what-happened.html
What do ski instructors get up to when there is no snow? Friday, 10 September 2010. Friday September 10th 2010. Decided to fit in another training run prior to the Ventoux on Sunday - but with a lower power output. There were still big surprises in store! How ridiculous. Unfortunately I don't think I'm alone here. One month ago I pushed very hard up this climb to La Plagne 2000 staying mostly above the lactate threshold zone - which is very hard work. Today, staying more than two complete training he...

Summer Alpine Training: April 2010
http://britishamericanskiing.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html
What do ski instructors get up to when there is no snow? Thursday, 29 April 2010. Http:/ www.gpsies.com/map.do? 2000m vertical on the bike today – and 80km distance. Went slow to ensure the legs would last. They were tired from the running problems. Despite the calves being almost too sore to walk with there was no pain at all on the bike. This is why cross training is so good. Only morons “ride” skis – so, yes that does include all BASI trainers! Why do both running and cycling? Posted by Ski Coach.

Summer Alpine Training: Psoas Secret?
http://britishamericanskiing.blogspot.com/2010/09/psoas-secret.html
What do ski instructors get up to when there is no snow? Friday, 17 September 2010. Wednesday 15th September 2010. Dragged myself out for another workout. Yup, not too enthusiastic. Just a bit tired. Changed out the rear tyre. The "Continental Grand Prix S" tyre I use for training has done 4000km so far and is still going strong - it'll see out the season. The centre is a bit flat and thin so for extra security and better rolling I put a newer tyre on for racing only. My normal time for this climb is bet...

Summer Alpine Training: La Dromoise - epic end of season beasting!
http://britishamericanskiing.blogspot.com/2010/09/la-dromoise-epic-end-of-season-beasting.html
What do ski instructors get up to when there is no snow? Wednesday, 29 September 2010. La Dromoise - epic end of season beasting! Sunday 26th September 2010. The last race of the season already! Summer is WAY TOO SHORT. The wind gets up to gale force on the mountain tops? The roads on the mountain descents are freshly covered with gravel? That makes "normal" feel very, very good. Service was a bit slow though and we did eat too late for my liking. Oh I wonder if Ian is still there? Super Lactate Threshol...

Summer Alpine Training: Les Routes du Ventoux
http://britishamericanskiing.blogspot.com/2010/09/les-routes-du-ventoux.html
What do ski instructors get up to when there is no snow? Monday, 13 September 2010. Les Routes du Ventoux. Sunday 12th September 2010. Two courses were proposed - the short 100km or the long 151km course. I'd registered for the long one - but with plenty doubts lingering over the wisdom of such an endeavour. Here is a link to the "official" French account of the race - a good opportunity to improve your French. Http:/ www.velo101.com/cyclosport/article/compterendu-des-routes-du-ventoux- 1743. Summer Alpine Training: "Les Bosses de 13" 2010
http://britishamericanskiing.blogspot.com/2010/09/les-bosses-de-13-2010.html
What do ski instructors get up to when there is no snow? Tuesday, 21 September 2010. Les Bosses de 13" 2010. Sunday 19th September 2010. Excellent race – fantastic security and management. A great event and a great day out plus an excuse to visit the Med and go for a swim in the sea. Only two negative points! They might even have been the leftovers from last year. Chris went off to find his hotel and I set off to find a restaurant that was open early. Eventually I found a Wok/Pasta place that was ope...
