Send Me An Email. Reducing the Aches One at a Time. April 5, 2013. Middot; by Jennifer. Middot; in Expenses. Middot; 7 Comments. When I first stated looking for ways to reduce my current expenses I realized I wasn’t going to be able to get where I wanted by simply cutting back on discretionary spending. I began looking at my checking account and each bill that I received. April 5, 2013 - 11:25 PM. And our needs change as life goes on…at one point I needed unlimited text messages. Now that mysel...It real...

Drinking the Office Coffee. Author Archives: Chaturanga Daily. Replenished, Recuperated, and Easing into Summer. June 2, 2013. Summer evening overlooking the Hudson from a friends apartment rooftop. It’s a hot and steamy Sunday here in NYC. I don’t know where spring went but summer is definitely here. Over Memorial Day weekend I took a trip home to my parents house which was a really good opportunity to rest, recuperate, and replenish in various ways. I’m still trying to save for SF and hoping to h...

Budget in the City. Managing dollars to make cents! May 13, 2013. Aw man. This week was not a good week. I’m not incredibly upset. I just know it could have been better. Here goes. The 11th wasn’t that good either, having spent too much on coffee and. Having dinner out (it wasn’t that good, either) and. Picking up groceries. Not the best, certainly not. How’s the balance? 175 budgeted, $359.43 spent. For a net of -$159.43. You win some, you lose some. May 13, 2013. Basically, fear of your statement means...

Cut Your Electric Bill With Common Sense | Budget in the City

Budget in the City. Managing dollars to make cents! May 20, 2013. Cut Your Electric Bill With Common Sense. Anyone who knows me knows that I’m a gadget nerd. I love technology. I have a bitchin’ home theatre system. I have a bunch of computers and cell phone chargers everywhere. I’m fortunate that here in BC, electricity is relatively cheap, but the bills add up. They always say to turn off the lights when you leave a room, which has always struck me as kind of redundant, because who doesn’t? Basically, ...

Round Up When You Pay Your Bills | Budget in the City

Budget in the City. Managing dollars to make cents! May 24, 2013. Round Up When You Pay Your Bills. Back in April I talked about how I was using my credit card again (and how apprehensive I was about it). Since I have a cashback credit card, it occurred to me that I should buy things with it that I would normally pay for via debit or cash — and as long as I covered the difference, I’d be OK. That’s been going mostly well, but I did come up with what I think was a great idea: round up. Now, you only.

Budget in the City. Managing dollars to make cents! May 22, 2013. Let The Vacation Begin! Well, that vacation I talked about in my first post. I’ll be leaving YVR this morning and will be landing in the very early morning tomorrow, which is kind of cool. I don’t fly often at all (well, I went to Vegas for a wedding last year, but that hardly counts! I land back at YVR on June 4, so until then I’ll be relatively incommunicado. I’ll try to reply to a few comments, but no promises. Laquo; Previous post.

Stop Wasting Money with Bank Fees! | Budget in the City

Budget in the City. Managing dollars to make cents! May 8, 2013. Stop Wasting Money with Bank Fees! I hate bank fees with a fiery passion. Basically, the way a bank works is this: you put money in, and the bank spends it. The bank invests it in various. Leverages it, whatever. For this, they pay you interest. That’s what that monthly payout of a few cents is for. So it’s unreal that a bank would charge you money for. Taking out your money. That’s why I love my credit union. They’re awesome and I ha...
