Reluctant Homunculus

Tuesday, January 01, 2013. Jar Full of Awesome. Facing the reality that I am a lazy blogger and journal-keeper, we just started writing down memorable items and cramming them in a jar. New Year's Day seemed like a good time to review 2012's contents. Kinda makes the opening of the jar seem less spontaneous when you take a break to photograph the moment and edit the pic. Yet, here we are . . . Look at those lovely little memories spill out all non-staged-like. So casual, yet profound. Follow me, I'm FIVE!

Reluctant Homunculus: 'Tis the season for disappointment

http://reluctanthomunculus.blogspot.com/2010/11/tis-season-for-disappointment.html

Wednesday, November 17, 2010. Tis the season for disappointment. I haven't even started shopping yet, but I feel confident that I'll pick out all the wrong gifts. Again. One thing I always get right, though, is the wrapping. I am a world class gift wrapper. Really! But I am starting to worry that the more beautifully wrapped the gift is on the outside, the more crushing the disappointment with the item inside. So this year, I have made up some gift tags that will help manage recipient expectations. You s...

Reluctant Homunculus: Couple of words make a big difference

http://reluctanthomunculus.blogspot.com/2010/10/couple-of-words-make-big-difference.html

Wednesday, October 06, 2010. Couple of words make a big difference. Matt and I were upstairs while Max was entertaining himself downstairs. He called up to us, "I got it! We shouted back down, "Yay! Good work Max.". It occurred to us that we need to be more attentive parents when Max clarified, "I got it . The cleanup was just as unpleasant as you might imagine. Posted by Reluctant Kerry. Reluctant Homunculus: The Old Distract & Redirect Tactic

http://reluctanthomunculus.blogspot.com/2010/09/old-distract-redirect-tactic.html

Wednesday, September 15, 2010. The Old Distract and Redirect Tactic. Did I mention that I am dieting? World’s least exciting topic it very well may be. That notwithstanding, I shall forge on to bore you with another diet-related post. I have been nearly fasting all day in anticipation of a deep fried Twinkie at the State Fair. It has been three years since my last deep fried Twinkie, and I intend to end that slump TONIGHT! Despite its despicable suggestion that I set a weight loss goal of 200 pounds.

Holy Night - Christmas Special - Zombies? A zombie webcomic. Undead, irregularily, from Eric Maziade.

http://zombiescomic.com/2006/12/09/152-holy-night

Holy Night - Christmas Special. By Eric, Saturday 9 December 2006 on 02:50 :. This is a new feature that I've been wanting to do for quite some time now. In life, we often encounter things that leave a lasting impression. I have been left wondering, how can they be made better? Steve from The Sneeze. Refreshed our memory with a repost from this song heard 'round the Web. Taken under the song's spell once more, I wondered. How can it be made better? Your new undead friend: Fuhrn Teyel. There is NO FREAKIN...

I can wait. OK, you're back? Where did we get the idea that Choosing a Dress That Will Flatter All Seven of Your Bridesmaids and Still Guarantee That You Will Look Better Than They Will! It's a poor sort of memory that only works backwards. Saturday, March 13, 2010. Recollections from a barf bag. 6:30 - 7:30 am - woke up, showered in notoriously small cruise ship bathroom, packed, bolted from bro-filled ship. Sad to leave tropical beaches - not sad to leave group of approximately 2000 spring breakers, most of whom were wearing Greek shirts emblazoned with obnoxious sayings. It's a poor sort of memory that only works backwards. Saturday, December 11, 2010. Sometimes, you can't fix crazy. When you take stock of your life, do you get along with the majority of the people in it? How do you feel about your peers, your co-workers, your family, your teachers? Society, and our relationships therein, can be a wonderful litmus for evaluating our mental state, or at the very least our level of functionality as we relate to our fellow humans. Time with them will be different as you all start getting older, entering careers, marrying, and having children. Also realize, though, that some friendships will grow with you, and others won't. Learn how to recognize which relationships are healthy - and which ones to let go. With love and hope,. PS You will never regret not getting a tattoo. Friday, March 14, 2008.

The girls like the chocolate chip peanut butter one, so I for that. I did not have peanuts, so I chopped up almonds. I also did not have Brown Rice Syrup, so I used Molasses and Honey. I'm not going to lie, honey, molasses and peanut butter smells damn good cooking. Wednesday, July 14, 2010. I got new cleaning stuff.

The Reluctant Homesteader

If You Don't Grow It, Who Will? Tuesday, April 30, 2013. I mentioned at the end of my last post that I added drip irrigation to my revised raised bed. Well, it did not work out. I figured it was no big deal to add 10 small drip emitters to this water line, but it turns out that it was just too much. The pressure dropped substantially and my regular lawn sprinklers wouldn't even pop up completely. The water literally dripped out of the emitters instead of pouring out as they were supposed to. If You Haven...
