Retired to Quilt

Friday, March 06, 2015. The King of the Jungle! Since my zodiac sign is Leo, I considered it fitting to jump at the chance to test another amazing paper pieced block by Juliet @ Tartankiwi. If you haven't seen any of her patterns,go immediately to her shop! You won"t regret it, I promise! I have been lucky enough to test a few blocks for Juliet, so I knew that her patterns are really detailed and are so life like. Leo is a 24" paper pieced pattern, and I spent about 2 days piecing him. Retired to Quilt: A Lovely Year of Finishes- August

http://retiredtoquilt.blogspot.com/2014/08/a-lovely-year-of-finishes-august.html

Thursday, August 28, 2014. A Lovely Year of Finishes- August. This is the name of my latest quilt finish.and my completed goal for August's. I really must say, I enjoyed saying hello again to so many favourite fabrics that I have used in other quilts and projects. A fun way to scrap bust, as well as make a lovely quilt. This is a combination of 2 tutorials by the amazing Lori Holt from Bee In My Bonnet. Each block measure 16", so it goes together quite quickly. The quilting is pretty straight forward.

Retired to Quilt: 2014- The Backstory

http://retiredtoquilt.blogspot.com/2014/12/2014-backstory.html

Wednesday, December 31, 2014. What a year 2014 has been! I haven't been blogging very much, but I joined Instagram! It's just so quick to post a photo, and write a little blurb. I tried a little harder to keep track of projects done this year. In years past, I didn't do a very good job of labeling photos with the year. So, this is going to be mainly photo mosaics of my work this past year. For my own benefit! I'll start with the quilts. Second row: Postage stamp- love this one! The final one isdefinitely...

Friday, October 24, 2014. Blogger's Quilt Festival Fall 2014. Well, if anything can get me back into blogging, it's the. Once again, Amy's Creative Side. Is hosting this biannual event. It is always so much fun to participate in this, and see what everyone has been up to since the Spring Festival. My entry will be seen in the Small Quilt category. I made this quilt using HRT's , and various low volume prints. It measures 52"x 59". The thread I used is my favourite Aurifil. I'm so happy with this quilt!

Friday, July 25, 2014. A Lovely Year of Finishes.July 2014 finished. For July, I set what I believed to be an achievable goal for A Lovely Year of Finishes! I am so happy to be finished this quilt, and it really was fun to do! It started out as a challenge to myself to try HRT's using the tutorial from Latifah at The Quilt Engineer. She posted this as a tutorial for the MQG. I sliced and diced, pressed and trimmed! I must admit that I am not a fan of pressing seams open,. But I did it anyway. This is #26...

So, this year I decided to join in and show you Kissa and Sheriti, my two female Egyptian Mau cats. It doesn't matter how small I fold a quilt, they find a way to both fit on it! They do like to sleep curled up together. She is also asthmatic, and uses an inhaler. Yes, you read it right! She is a big girl! Mine will alw...

Making pretty things and talking about it. Barn door quilt along. April 16, 2014. I haven’t technically started cutting or sewing yet, but I feel like I’ve already come a long way on this project (previously blogged here. Just by figuring out the design and choosing fabrics. I spent a lot of time coloring in this rather large color and piecing guide. But I think it will be time well spent because now the design and color placement are all but finalized. And bonus: I can see it across the room. Be sure to...

And to our great cheerleader Katherine. For all her time to get us all organised. Sewing a First Communion Dress

Modern Quilting and Paper Piecing. Sewing a First Communion Dress. April 27, 2014. My daughter received her First Communion today. Long before I had children, I dreamed of making them dresses for their First Communions. My oldest child is a boy so this was my first chance! Mind you, I did have fun dressing him in a suit too but it wasn’t something I had dreamed about! My daughter knows what she likes and what she doesn’t so I didn’t have complete design control! Susan being Snippy: Yarn Dilemna

http://susanbeingsnippy.blogspot.com/2015/08/yarn-dilemna.html

8220;Great things are done by a series of small things brought together.” Vincent Van Gogh. Thursday, August 13, 2015. The other day my friend Doris brought me some yarn that she had acquired from free or cheap sources. She did not need all that she had got so shared some of the treasures with me. That makes it awfully expensive. I guess I just live in a more frugal, common world! So I thought that I would play around with this "special" yarn. I had actually considered listing these balls of yarn on ...

Amy’s mouse pin cushion tutorial. July 17, 2013. Our shop is filled with useful handmade gifts from Amy of Amy’s Crafty Shenanigans. From the fun hand towel in the bathroom to Harvey’s adorable drool bib. But the one that gets the most use is this cute little mouse-shaped pin cushion. 8220;Great things are done by a series of small things brought together.” Vincent Van Gogh. Saturday, September 28, 2013. Strange what people might consider multi-tasking. I for one feel that this idea of multi-tasking often means your attention is divided and you really don't do either task to the best that you are able. BUT its not okay to sit in a lecture and work on a small crochet piece? I can not only crochet while listening to a instructor give a lecture AND answer a question or two put to me whil...

8220;Great things are done by a series of small things brought together.” Vincent Van Gogh. Friday, May 30, 2014. How I made a tray feeder for wild birds. This morning my niece posted on Facebook about a type of feeder that she wanted to order from Wild Birds Unlimited. And I had been thinking of a similar type of feeder for my back yard because the BlueJays and some of the other larger birds could not access the round tube feeder that I have there. So, as you know, I occasionally go off on a "tangent"!
