While antlers have been a popular trend the past few years, they have long been a classic element in traditional homes. Here are seven antler decor ideas that caught my eye recently:. Saturday, September 13, 2014. Vintage Industrial Living Room - Where to Begin. Teasing time is over. September is the month to do something different - a new beginning.Time to sing a new song. I have loved this look for a while. I just never had the guts to go all out.until now. Remove all the aqua accents and cottage-type things. (Those will go to the bedroom I'm tackling when this is done.) Stack them on the dining room table. Take everything off the shelves, tabletops, mantel, etc. Keep new and "faux"...

Saturday, October 4, 2014. Industrial Living Room Vignette #5 - The Early Fall Mantel. Maybe I should have named this post "Mantel #1," since I usually tweak them.at least once. I used many items I used last fall.but a few items are new-to-me. The tall white glove mold is a new purchase from Etsy. I have wanted one for years, and finally decided to get one. I purchased it from Reinvented Charlotte. They shipped quickly, and paid postage! As I was placing the birds and hands on the mantel, the old saying,...

Saturday, September 27, 2014. Industrial Living Room Vignette #3 - The Left Side Shelf. Opposite the Psalm 91 corner shelf, past the mantel, is another shelf. The top shelves of both shelves have an architectural wood piece, vintage books and finials in shades of white. The second shelf contains similar elements to the opposite shelf. Everything except the artist figure is from a thrift store. Hangs above glass containers of board game pieces, and a small antler. Word for the Day:. Make it Pretty Monday.

Metals used are sterling silver, aluminum, rusty steel, copper, brass and found objects. Industrial pierced metals, washers, hardware, pearl buttons, found metal from 1950s appliances and ice trays have all found their way into my work at one time or another. I make most of my own ear wires, clasps and findings.

Farmhouse Allsorts: Busy but Fun!

http://www.farmhouseallsorts.com/2015/07/busy-but-fun.html

Monday, July 20, 2015. Oh my goodness, have we been busy! I've loaded only a "few" pictures because I just can't fathom going through the gazillion I have, ugh. Or posting said gazillion! David and I had our 16th anniversary (that means 4 more years until England! At the end of June. For Mother's Day, Scott had gifted me a dinner for two at the restaurant he cooks at. We cashed in on it for anniversary dinner ('Cause I'm cheap like that, hahaa! Holy cow was it good! It all tastes the same to him! David a...

Farmhouse Allsorts: March 2015

http://www.farmhouseallsorts.com/2015_03_01_archive.html

Saturday, March 14, 2015. Fine, I'm Enjoying Early Spring. Our magnolia bush is in full bloom and is gorgeous! It needs a bit of a prune, pruning being something that we've failed at completely the last few years. The blueberry bush next to it is in a severe need of a trim - they should be pruned in Fall, and I keep putting it on the back burner until I realize the year has zoomed by once again. I also need to get some more blueberry bushes! I'm heading back to make some progress on the kitchen. I'm ...

Redeemed Junk and Stuff. Redeeming the junk in my life. Thursday, December 18, 2014. A new grand baby and Thanksgiving! I usually start off saying that I haven't posted for a while.but no excuses. I have a few days off of work so I'm going to "catch up". Is that possible? Here are a few I've done the last few months besides work:. Made a trip to Seattle to help my sister dejunk a few things. FARRAGOZ: Metamorphosis of a Display Cabinet

http://farragoz.blogspot.com/2013/10/metamorphosis.html

Tuesday, 26 November 2013. Metamorphosis of a Display Cabinet. I'm a sucker for old shop fittings, lab equipment, etc. I'm also a danger to my bank balance when I end up at what I consider to be a good auction. If I spot something that I really like, I'm like a Bull Terrier that won't let go. Somewhere in the bidding process I'll put up my hand and just keep it there! Very, very bad for business if you're buying to resell. So, out came the plans, the tools and the paint! And it had better be casein paint!

FARRAGOZ: October 2014

http://farragoz.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html

Thursday, 23 October 2014. Can you make a new table look like a painted antique? Yes and it's not nearly as difficult as it looks. In 1967 he presented his house, Hammerichs Hus, and it's contents to the town of Ærøskøbing, Denmark and it is now a museum. To recreate the finish of an old piece like this table, is a journey of discovery. Studying the surface would be the first step in your journey. You need to look very closely at the piece to "see" it's history. Where are they the most prominent? How to ...

Locksley Lane: MacKenzie-Childs Look A Like Pumpkins

http://locksleylane.blogspot.com/2014/09/mackenzie-childs-pumpkins.html

Refinished vintage furniture, home decor and more. Monday, September 29, 2014. MacKenzie-Childs Look A Like Pumpkins. A friend of mine asked me to paint these for her. I have to say that out of all the pumpkins I've been painting lately, these are my absolute favorites. They just add a little bit of class to the regular ole pumpkin. And if you've priced the real ones.you will want to make your own. I worked around the pumpkin from top to bottom with black squares. What do you think? A Stroll Thru Life.

FARRAGOZ: Study of Patina in Dusky Rose

http://farragoz.blogspot.com/2015/08/study-of-patina-in-dusty-rose.html

Tuesday, 11 August 2015. Study of Patina in Dusky Rose. Insider Tips on how to recreate Dusky Rose patina on wood. What do you see when you look at old paintwork? I see all of that and a whole lot more. Over the years I have trained myself to not merely look at old paint, but to really see it. To see its patina. To see its colours. To see its history. Look closer. How many colours do you really see? After I was recently asked by a student how she would go about recreating the weathered finish of this doo...
