Richard Dunn

Its been a pleasure. Monday, November 24, 2014. It was down south, I was dragged there, it was a good bird, etc etc. A phone call from Ian, as I was heading for an expensive dentist visit, set a plan in motion for this afternoon ( I’m gonna say it, “I’m pleased I went”, that wasn’t too painful! Todays treat was a British tick Isabelline Wheatear, and very obliging it was too! Not the most inspiring place, but what a bird. Also on the beach, a rather splendid Pied Wagtail. Friday, October 31, 2014.

Richard Dunn: November 23 2014

http://richarddunn.blogspot.com/2014/11/november-23-2014.html

Its been a pleasure. Monday, November 24, 2014. A short drive today, just down to the north of Whitley Bay, Brierdene, to pay homage to the Hume’s Warbler, found yesterday. Just a bit too hyper, it took some time to get a reasonable image of it! Also in Brierdene, two Waxwing, showing well, as they say! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). This Way; Northumberland. Stobswood and Felton Lane. Farne Island photo of the day. Up North, Northumberland, United Kingdom. View my complete profile.

Euro roadtrip | Bedlington Wanderer

https://bedlingtonwanderer.wordpress.com/2012/08/24/euro-roadtrip

Back from a bit of a roadtrip – instead of the usual circuit round Druridge Bay this time it was Bedlington - France - Germany - Switzerland - Germany - Belgium - France - Bedlington. A few lifers and year ticks… rough legged buzzard and black kite in France… white stork in Germany, red-crested pochard in Switzerland. As much as anything I was impressed with the black redstarts in Germany – as common as sparrows and starlings in the black forest where we stayed with my brother for a few days.

Reflections on Florida… Part I | Bedlington Wanderer

https://bedlingtonwanderer.wordpress.com/2012/11/18/reflections-on-florida-part-i

Reflections on Florida… Part I. Well I’ve been back from Florida a couple of weeks now and had chance to go through and identify pretty much everything we saw. My first hour or so out of the house was an opportunity for my 6 year old daughter to stretch her legs in a local playground a few hundred yards from our base in Lake City. Next up overhead the dark form of a turkey vulture gliding around, closely followed by several more and a black vulture in tow. In one of the trees at the playground another mo...

Druridge Pools | Bedlington Wanderer

https://bedlingtonwanderer.wordpress.com/druridge-pools

Druridge Pools Nature Reserve consists of one large subsidence lake, a marshy wetland area and large grass covered dunes and beach. It sits between Cresswell Pools to the South and East Chevington. To the North and a visit here can easily be combined with trips to both of its neighbours. Off the A1068 road there are two route to the reserve :. Druridge Pools Nature Reserve. The track that gives access to the hides also continues inland and across fields to Low Chibburn Preceptory. Enter your comment here.

Wandering in Florida | Bedlington Wanderer

https://bedlingtonwanderer.wordpress.com/2012/10/28/wandering-in-florida

First full morning in Florida and just been out for an hour to find a playground for my daughter. So far clocked up turkey and black vultures, boat tailed grackle, kildeer, glossy and american ibises, mockingbird, bluejay and gold crowned kinglet plus an unidentified stork/crane. Off to Alligator Lake this afternoon and then to buy a copy of Sibley. Photos to follow when we get home. Tags: vultures ibises Florida. Reflections on Florida… Part I →. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. East Chevington | Bedlington Wanderer

https://bedlingtonwanderer.wordpress.com/eastchevington

East Chevington is the last reserve on Druridge Bay that I came across, being neatly tucked away either beside Druridge Bay County Park or down a dead-end track depending which way you choose to access it (the latter offers free parking unlike the former! Off the A1068 road there are two prime parking locations :. Note that Hides 1-4 are accessed from the path running south from the car park at Druridge Bay Country Park, however Hide 5 is best accessed from the unsigned path dsecribed above as a stream d...
