Just Finding Our Way: I Got Taken For A Ride!
http://justfinding.blogspot.com/2015/08/i-got-taken-for-ride.html
Just Finding Our Way. Wandering - sometimes with a Scamp 19. Friday, August 7, 2015. I Got Taken For A Ride! While I was at the Rocky Mtn Egg Rendezvous, David asked if I wanted to go for a ride. He and his wife use a tricked-out Jeep to tow their Lil Snoozy. Or perhaps it would be more accurate to say that they take their Lil Snoozy when they go on four-wheeling trips. We really had wonderful weather for the trip. I discovered later that this route is very well known in the four-wheeling community. ...

Just Finding Our Way: March 2015
http://justfinding.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Just Finding Our Way. Wandering - sometimes with a Scamp 19. Monday, March 30, 2015. After the war was concluded at Picacho Peak. We headed for Lake Roosevelt to meet up with friends that we've known for years. They were in a dispersed camping area at the north end of Lake Roosevelt. The entrance to the area is clearly labeled Bermuda Flat, but. An Annual Pass is acceptable at Horse Pasture for camping. There were tight groups of rigs parked all along the shoreline to our south. There were quite a few po...

Just Finding Our Way: Rocky Mountain Egg Rendezvous
http://justfinding.blogspot.com/2015/08/rocky-mountain-egg-rendezvous.html
Just Finding Our Way. Wandering - sometimes with a Scamp 19. Wednesday, August 5, 2015. Rocky Mountain Egg Rendezvous. One of the reasons to come to Colorado (other than the weather) was to attend the Rocky Mountain Egg Rendezvous. In it's fourth year, it's much smaller than the Quartzsite Gathering that we attend in February. The majority of the attendees were from the Four Corners states. Hadn't been vacated yet. I tried to trade him for my Tacoma, but no deal. :-(. Location: Chris Park Group Campgroun...

Just Finding Our Way: The Muffler Man
http://justfinding.blogspot.com/2015/08/the-muffler-man.html
Just Finding Our Way. Wandering - sometimes with a Scamp 19. Saturday, August 1, 2015. On the north side of County Road P, west of County Road 26 (they use really imaginative names! Is the most intriguing collection of old mufflers and tailpipes that I'd ever seen. The collection is way too large to get into one photo. Lots of cowboy / western theme with some subtle and not so subtle commentary at times. What can you say? A creative riding lawnmower! There were a couple examples of political commentary a...

Just Finding Our Way: April 2015
http://justfinding.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Just Finding Our Way. Wandering - sometimes with a Scamp 19. Wednesday, April 29, 2015. April 15th - There is a very well-known set of ruins about 4 miles east of where I’m camping. The hike starts out on a trail through juniper and pinion but runs across slickrock for the last portion of the hike. Already, I could see the tops of what could be alcoves or caves with an orientation to the east. These locations are the most likely locations to find structures. Where there is one, there are usually more....

http://justfinding.blogspot.com/2015/08/getting-high-in-durango.html
Just Finding Our Way. Wandering - sometimes with a Scamp 19. Monday, August 3, 2015. Getting High in Durango. On the 27th, with some regret, I left my wonderful home for the past week. Near Mancus. I headed for Chris Park, a group campsite north of Durango. I never saw the train as I passed through Durango, but I did hear it and see signs of it near the road north of town. My destination was the Rocky Mountain Egg Rendezvous. More on that in the next post.). It's always nice to see Jerry and Wanda! A "li...

Just Finding Our Way. Wandering - sometimes with a Scamp 19. Saturday, January 31, 2015. Urban Boondocking - At A Price. With the youngest member of the Alaska contingent approaching 11 years old, there is always a need for ways to burn off energy. He decided we should go for a hike, and chose the location. In the process, we found a spectacular boondocking site, complete with a view of Usery Park. S Wind Cave in the background. 10 miles to the east. Another 20 or so miles beyond. Just Finding Our Way: Three for the Price of Two
http://justfinding.blogspot.com/2015/08/three-for-price-of-two.html
Just Finding Our Way. Wandering - sometimes with a Scamp 19. Saturday, August 15, 2015. Three for the Price of Two. While I was chatting with the gal at the Visitor Center about the road to Animas Forks, she was weaving in information about the Historical Museum, Mayflower Mill, and the Old 100 Mine. Turns out, you can get a Heritage Pass. That saves you several dollars admission fees if you do all three. Even better, you don't have to do them all the same day. The San Juan County Historical Museum.

Just Finding Our Way: Frisco Mill
http://justfinding.blogspot.com/2015/08/frisco-mill.html
Just Finding Our Way. Wandering - sometimes with a Scamp 19. Tuesday, August 11, 2015. One of the things I wanted to do while in the Silverton area was to visit the Frisco Mill ruins. First thing, I headed off up the road to Animas Forks. All along the way are remains of mines and mills. For a guy that likes rust, I was in my element! The mill doesn't look as big from the uphill side! This is another private property that sports a For Sale sign. The sale includes the 7500' Bagley Tunnel. This pic...The l...
