From fit to fat - and back again? After a successful season's riding, I have been forced through illness to take an almost 2 month lay off. This has obviously been gutting. Hopefully now though I can start training again with the idea of taking on the Marmotte in 2010. This blog will detail all of the plans, goals and efforts, including all the ups and downs along the way. Sunday, 31 January 2010. Toys Toys Toys (aka Money Money Money the sequel). After all this time I have finally solved the mystery of the agonising foot pain I experienced during the Etape. Reading an old tri magazine last night I read about something called 'Hot foot' and sure enough looking it up on the web this morning this is exactly what I experienced. Hot foot or Metatarsalgia. Boy can I identify with that description! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). London, United Kingdom. Etape du Tour 2010.

http://tdfetape2010.blogspot.com/2010/06/elimination-times-are-up.html
Welcome and a big hello to this my collection of thoughts on my preparation for the 2010 Etape Du Tour. Thursday, 10 June 2010. Etape 2010 elimination times are up. I'm back from my trip abroad and have found the route and elimination times. Are up on the Etape website. We have 11.5 hours to get from Pau to the Tourmalet. I'm not wanting to tempt fate but this seems to give a minimum average speed of around 16km/h (9.8 mph). I wonder how many people will forget and get caught out? Posted by Stuart James.

Welcome and a big hello to this my collection of thoughts on my preparation for the 2010 Etape Du Tour. Thursday, 17 June 2010. BG Fit - A quick Update. Well so far so good. Two days and 124km later I'm very happy to say the changes made to my positioning as part of my recent BG Fit. Seem to have been successful. My IT band doesn't seem to be grumbling quite as much as in the past few weeks and what's more, I'm certain I'm getting more power into each stroke. I wish I had had this fit back in Jan. L'Etap...

Welcome and a big hello to this my collection of thoughts on my preparation for the 2010 Etape Du Tour. Wednesday, 9 June 2010. Easy days and travel. Thankfully, and I NEVER thought I'd ever think it that let alone write it, work has taken me overseas over the past few days which has meant a period of enforced rest. I've spent a day enjoying the Irish hospitality of Dublin. And then as I type you find me in a cafe in the beautiful German city of Dusseldorf. As for my little niggle in the right leg. L'Eta...

Stuart's Etape 2010: Really? I need to leave my bike at the start overnight?
http://tdfetape2010.blogspot.com/2010/07/reall-i-need-to-leave-my-bike-at-start.html
Welcome and a big hello to this my collection of thoughts on my preparation for the 2010 Etape Du Tour. Friday, 9 July 2010. I need to leave my bike at the start overnight? Like a few others no doubt I've been going through the last few details for the Etape logistics. Perhaps - although essential to get correct as I'd be mighty annoyed if I wasn't able to ride for not having done something as silly as not printing my registration note to take to the number collection point the day before the event.

So then, how's everyone's bib shorts and cycling top tan going? I'm well on the way to looking somewhat ridiculous with my legs going a rather nice bronze colour. But anyway. I digress. A Crack in the R3? I'm off to the LBS next weekend to have it looked over. With only 2 weeks to go until the Dragon Ride. Food, food, food.

Welcome and a big hello to this my collection of thoughts on my preparation for the 2010 Etape Du Tour. Tuesday, 15 June 2010. BG Fit - Two Hours Very Well Spent. After my recent work trips abroad. I've been due a day or two off in holiday time. Rather than sit around the house and watch the World Cup and given my recent troubles with my IT Band. I decided to get myself a full and proper bike fit from the very good people at Sigma Sport. I opted for the Specialized BG Fit. Well if its good enough for him.
