The Trotting Post: March 2012
http://trottingpost.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
March 15, 2012. Ooooh, so soft! Dad and Alex. No sure why Alex looks petrified. March 9, 2012. In the words of Jim Davis. AAARRRGGGHH! Last weekend it was finally warm enough and dry enough to ride. My sister in law was in town so she and my husband were baby-sitting Alex so I could go ride. I get to the barn and as soon as I get on the owners light a trash fire right next to the arena. thanks. You have go to be kidding me. Who does that? No thanks mom.". Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). A Horse and a Half.

The Trotting Post: August 2011
http://trottingpost.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
August 24, 2011. My Kind of Maternity Pictures. So rather than just take the "I'm standing here , here's my big ol' stomach" against the wall picture that looks more like a mug shot, I drug the husband out to the barn and took some there. Tell me what you think. First the "good" ones. Is Dexter sniffing his brother-to-be or the treat I have in my left hand? And some out-takes. its hard to get a horse to cooperate when he knows dinner is on the other side of the fence. Yes, I get it, you're tall. Confessi...

The Dressage Curmudgeon: I feel just like Forrest gump. Only more bitchy.
http://dressagecurmudgeon.blogspot.com/2014/10/i-feel-just-like-forrest-gump-only-more.html
Tuesday, 28 October 2014. I feel just like Forrest gump. Only more bitchy. I hope you all know how much I love your comments. Even the haters usually make me smile. As the saying goes, the opposite of love is not hate, but apathy. But I got a comment yesterday that actually tied in with some thoughts I have been having over the last week. My most prolific commenter, Anonymous, wrote:. Ahh I get it. I get exactly where this person is coming from. Even if I think that place is fucking nuts. Why are dressag...

The Trotting Post: The Horses
http://trottingpost.blogspot.com/p/horses.html
Here are some. not all of the horses that I have been lucky to own or work with. Jadi was the first horse I ever took a lesson on. She was an old paso fino with a gland problem that caused her to be extremely hairy all the time. Which was fine with me, it just made her extra snuggley. She was a sweet mare that toted me around the back yard and occasional trips down the road. Ultimately sent him off to be a happy trail horse. Lastly, is Dexter, my current horse. He is an 8 yr old Friesian cross and my...

The Trotting Post: Test Calling
http://trottingpost.blogspot.com/2012/05/test-calling.html
May 2, 2012. When I started showing again last year one thing I noticed was that almost everyone had a test caller. Even when I went to go see my trainer ride, she had someone calling out the test to her. When did this become the norm? When I first started showing (10 ) years ago, you almost never saw a reader outside of Training Level, and even then it was for the younger riders. I get it, there is a lot going on, and with nerves its very easy to forget your next movement. I know, I have forgotten a...

The Trotting Post: February 2011
http://trottingpost.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
February 21, 2011. A while back my work had a little workshop on how to influence others. How to get people to do what you want them to, or more importantly how to get people to want to do what you want them to do. And I couldn't help but draw parrallels between how I influence my employees to how I train my horses. That's all it really is about. the what is in it for me factor. And if you can figure out how to communicate that to an animal, who doesnt' speak your language, its a piece of cake wi...A goo...

The Trotting Post: April 2011
http://trottingpost.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
April 29, 2011. OK, I know this horse doesn't belong anywhere near a 6 year old before it learns some manners. But besides that this little kid is such a trooper and is certainly not going to take crap from a little pony. Not once do you see tears. April 18, 2011. Feedback For My Dexter. Please stop staring at the spectators on the side lines at the shows. It makes people think you don't know how to got straight on a long side. I promise they aren't there to kill you or give you treats. April 13, 2011.
