Observations about learning, knowledge and technology

Wednesday, March 25, 2015. Substance not popularity, reflection and boredom, not pace. I read with interest Frances Bell's post on Binaries, Polarization and Privacy. I would also like the incorporate here some thoughts on pace. It seems to become more and more valued to do everything fast, presumably as we have less time to give attention to each happening and piece of writing or video, but I wholeheartedly enjoyed this piece by Popova. Observations about learning, knowledge and technology: What MOOCs might have been...................

http://ritakop.blogspot.com/2015/03/what-moocs-might-have-been.html

Wednesday, March 18, 2015. What MOOCs might have been. Well, I have not used my blog for a long time. A new job and sitting back to see how the commercialization storm that took MOOCs by surprise would unfold were my excuses. I have decided that I would not be true to my own principles and ideas of education and learning that involve active. Interaction if I would not do exactly that, participate and interact. How did my change of heart come about? My first reaction when xMOOCs appeared that used the sam...

Thursday, February 24, 2011. Back to writing my blog after some time writing different types of papers and having been 'up to my elbows' in data, yes MOOC data, to make sense of the learning processes on PLENK2010. Helene Fournier and I have been quite busy over the past months analysing data and writing papers and preparing presentations, which we will post here as they are being published. The post by Martin Weller. Power relations on the MOOC. Confidence levels of novice MOOCers. Posted by Welsh Cloggy.

Observations about learning, knowledge and technology: Formal learners have the best of both worlds?

http://ritakop.blogspot.com/2010/10/formal-learners-have-best-of-both_15.html

Friday, October 15, 2010. Formal learners have the best of both worlds? Thanks Dave, your post. The idea I liked most to move from formal towards informal learning comes from Ivan Illich, who would like to rid us of ‘scholastic funnels ‘(1992) and instead create ‘community webs’ .He would like people to be able to call on the teacher or peers of their choice, teach if they feel they have something meaningful to say and call meetings to share resources whenever possible (1971). Barabasi, 2003, p. 56).

Jim Stauffer's participant blog for MOOCs. My PLE concept map. Monday, October 25, 2010. I can assess my learning subjectively. Based on how successfully I feel I am grasping new concepts, and by the degree of satisfaction I get from the connections I’m making. I can assess my learning objectively. To all of the above I’d give a qualified “pretty well”. New connections are certainly the most exciting. Conviviality Corners in Second Life. Counting down to vacations! So this past weekend Geoff and I continued planning for our Bahamas trip this summer. We are doing a cruise that will stop at Port Canaveral, Florida, and two different spots in the Bahamas! I’m exhausted, will update more later! Spring break is so close! Can’t wait to be in Cancun! There&#8...
