Rockin' On: London Daily Photo. London, Ontario, Canada. Wednesday, July 31, 2013. An Ontario vernacular bungalow, maybe. The home shown today sits across the street from the cottage featured yesterday. This home looks a lot like a classic Ontario cottage but it may be an example of a vernacular bungalow. The simple shed roof doesn't feel right to me but maybe it's original. My guess is that it was added when the house was updated and upgraded. Links to this post. Tuesday, July 30, 2013. This particular ...

Rockin' On: the Blog. Sunday, August 9, 2015. The United States is not healthcare nirvana. A recent newspaper story. Introduced a young girl with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome to tens of thousands of readers across Ontario and possibly Canada. The story originated at The London Free Press. If you didn't see the story, you must be wondering "What exactly is Ehlers-Danlos syndrome? A little bit of quick, ballpark math says that a province with population of some 13 million. Must contain about 2600 people touched ...

Rockin' On: the Blog. Sunday, November 30, 2014. Don't believe The London Free Press; Get a flu shot. It is interesting to note the headline was changed on the online story. A lot of people do not get a flu shot. They don't believe in them. They argue: Flu shots can't be trusted; Flu shots don't always confer protection. And now my local paper, The London Free Press. Other medical experts, not employed by Sanofi Pasteur, have called the new flu shot a mild improvement. Why is a 25% improvement, as re...

Rockin' On: London Daily Photo. London, Ontario, Canada. Saturday, May 31, 2014. Reg Cooper Square: a failed placemaking attempt. I find this shocking. This is a picture of Reg Cooper Square located behind the London City Hall. The black structure jutting out from white wall of the City Hall is the council chamber. Weeds grow between the large concrete pavers. When a pad was damaged, a small slab of concrete was poured to fill the hole. If this is what London calls placemaking, it is all too sad. A fawn ...

Rockin' On: London Daily Photo. London, Ontario, Canada. Monday, October 14, 2013. Growing season just about done for year. Thomas Brothers Farm Market, south of London on hwy 4. I've watched the loss of precious southwestern Ontario farmland to industry and housing for decades, ever since I was a little boy. The acreage that has disappeared is astronomical. It is equal to the area of the province of Prince Edward Island and then some. This is no way to treat our space ship: Space Ship Earth. When I was ...
