Rockslide Music

Thursday, February 04, 2010. What brought you to Austin? Probably listening to Stevie Ray Vaughan…I didn’t really start playing guitar until I went to college at East Carolina University. Some cats in my dorm had guitars, and I was like, that’s cool. You know, man, I want to try that. That’s what they were listening to, electric blues. Stevie Ray, Clapton and Jimmie Hendrix. What happened first was I. What takes you to Nashville? Well, I started working about two years ago with Gary Nicholson, who produc...

Rockslide Music: January 2008

http://rockslidephoto.blogspot.com/2008_01_01_archive.html

Tuesday, January 22, 2008. What in the World Would You Want to Do a Thing Like That for? Because I like to! A friend of mine was given a notebook she took with her to Threadgill's for the ten plus years Champ and the Troubadours played Wednesday nights. In it she wrote down the names of nearly everyone who appeared on stage. No doubt she had fun every Wednesday, but the record she kept is priceless. Now, when I go out, I take my camera with me. No telling what we might miss someday. Click here for photos.

Rockslide Music: September 2009

http://rockslidephoto.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html

Saturday, September 26, 2009. Photo Exhibit — Austin Music Scene. I am getting together with Valerie Fremin. To hang a couple dozen prints at House Wine, a cool locally owned venue just down the street from next week's ACL Fest. We'll be showing off some of our music photography. About time, don't you think? In keeping with ACL protocol, Will T. Massey and Richard Bowden will take care of the after party from 9-10. Click here for a new Rockslide gallery. Sunday, September 13, 2009. South Austin Jug Band.

Rockslide Music: April 2008

http://rockslidephoto.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html

Wednesday, April 23, 2008. Click here for photos of the show. A full moon hung in the trees, and chills rippled through the crowd as Marty related the story behind Dark Bird. Later, Marty wandered alone in the orchard and watched fruit go to the crows, thinking they ain't good for much, but damn they look cool all dressed up like JRC. Didn't know I would like Marty Stuart so much. Monday, April 14, 2008. Slow going, so it will take a while to get a diverse set of images up on Flickr. South Austin Jug Band.

Irene's Photoblog: New Mexico: A Visual and Spiritual Journey

http://irenesphotoblog.blogspot.com/2009/04/new-mexico-visual-and-spiritual-journey.html

Too Much and Not Enough. Thursday, September 25, 2008. New Mexico: A Visual and Spiritual Journey. Fabulous photo workshop with Todd Williams. Mountains, deserts, horseraces, old towns. Todd brought along 3 of his photographer friends to assist, so we were drenched with learning every minute. Exhausting and exhilarating. Our group did a 1-nite show downtown; I've never been more pleased with a photo exhibit. Tony Johnson's pieces and mine are now on display at my office. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Too Much and Not Enough. Tuesday, June 26, 2007. I've been reading Scott McCloud's book, Understanding Comics. I've also been at my local coffee shop, practicing for my documentary photography class. When I was processing the photos a little story appeared. Take a look. At this documentary fumetti (comics with photos instead of drawings). I'm really quite pleased with it. My husband, Howie, met your husband at the radio station yesterday and got onto your site, which we just love. I LOVE your fumetti!

Irene's Photoblog: Keep Austin Weird

http://irenesphotoblog.blogspot.com/2007/12/keep-austin-weird.html

Too Much and Not Enough. Saturday, January 12, 2008. The unofficial motto of this town. Is " Keep Austin Weird. A local librarian, Red Wassenich. First uttered the phrase back in 2000, when phoning his pledge to a local radio station. I've heard it quite a bit along with sighs about the seemingly inevitable condo high-rise development downtown and incursions of big-box retail. I took this photo at a weird RV park in South Austin. It's in a Texas Documentary Photographers. Holding on and letting go -.

Irene's Photoblog: March 2010

http://irenesphotoblog.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html

Too Much and Not Enough. Thursday, March 11, 2010. First bluebonnet of the season. The first sighting is always so exciting. It was such a fine spring evening in Texas. We were walking out by the old airport. I heard someone say it would be a good year for the wildflowers this year since the drought last year killed all the grass. There certainly did seem to be a lot of plants out there, gearing up. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Holding on and letting go -. Documenting my daily awe. View my complete profile.
