3 Rhinos were poached at the Kariega Game Reserve. In the Eastern Cape, South Africa in March 2012. Tragically one male rhino, called Bull No 84 was fatally injured and died during the course of the night. Even though Thandi (meaning Courage in isiXhosa) and Themba’s horns were brutally hacked off their faces with panga machetes, they survived the poaching. Investec Rhino Lifeline veterinary surgeon Dr William Fowlds was called in to treat Themba and Thandi. Video production by Paul Mills. April 23, 2015.
