Kaw & Border: A Governor with Guts
http://kawandborder.blogspot.com/2012/05/governor-with-guts.html
Wednesday, May 9, 2012. A Governor with Guts. Today, the Kansas House, in coordination with Governor Sam Brownback, showed great political courage in moving to concur. On a previously passed measure to reduce taxes, a motion which passed 64-59. Most of all, though, it showed what true legislative success, the outcome of political success, can be achieved when you have a Governor with guts - and a House with a backbone. Truly, today's action was one of the shrewdest moves in Kansas history. Governor Brown...

Saturday, November 20, 2010. Sarah Palin vs. the Establishment. As we have become accustomed to in modern politics, even though we are not even to Thanksgiving of 2010 yet, rampant speculation has already begun on the 2012 Presidential race - specifically, the potential field for the Republican nomination. Much of this early fervor is centered around one woman - Sarah Palin. To be clear, though this blog is a huge fan of Sarah Palin. We have yet to decide on whether we think Sarah Palin. Of course, the f...

Wednesday, August 31, 2011. The Importance of Respect in Building a Conservative Movement. However, while indeed such a victory should be cause for immense celebration because of the decades of blood, sweat, tears and prayers that would have taken to achieve, it will present new challenges as well. Much like the dog who catches up with the car, conservatives will have to decide how to handle themselves once they achieve full control. Again, it's all about respect. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). http://kawandborder.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html
Tuesday, May 25, 2010. In Honor of Our Namesake. In this post, we are taking a break from covering local politics to discuss the famous television show that is this site's namesake - Law and Order. After all, last night marked the end of the show's 20th season, and possibly its last, if Creator Dick Wolf is unable to find a new home for the drama on TNT or another network or possibly get NBC to change its mind. So, for those who really wanted Law and Order to survive ANOTHER twenty seasons, the network h...

Sunday, November 25, 2012. Bobby Jindal Is Right.but so was Romney. Following his defeat in the Presidential election, Governor Mitt Romney, in a conference call with donors, offered the opinion. That the Democrats won by offering gifts to voters, by offering specific programs tailored at certain demographics. Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, in response, offered a sharp critique. Count this blog as agreeing with both sets of comments. That's where Jindal's comments come in. In means on limited governmen...

Tuesday, April 19, 2011. They're Trying to Save Kansas. The November 2010 election brought a great deal of new hope to many in Kansas who have long dreamed about a state government that would be truly reflective of its citizens - socially and fiscally conservative, enacting legislation that would protect a culture of life, encourage marriage and traditional values, defend liberty and freedom, uphold the rule of law, and promote economic prosperity and fiscal responsibility. Well, apparently not. Rep Owen...

Tuesday, May 29, 2012. Liberals' Map Reveals Their Fears. In the ongoing dust-up over maps in the Kansas Legislature that is now headed to the courts, one of the most controversial points has been the attempts by liberal Republicans to carve out their opponents - most particularly in three key races:. In Senate District 8, incumbent Senator Tim Owens has an opponent - Rep. Greg Smith. In Senate District 25, incumbent Senator Jean Schodorf has an opponent - Rep. Brenda Landwehr. The moderate/liberal coali...
