Royals Then, Now and Forever. The Official Blog of the Royals Hall of Fame. New York, New York. The Royals are headed to the Bronx for our lone visit to Yankee Stadium this season – starting a three game series later tonight (TV-FSKC; Radio-KCSP/Royals Radio Network 6:10pm). Here are some interesting notes from the Royals first-ever trip to the Big Apple in 1969. Monday, June 9, 1969. Tuesday, June 10, 1969. Wednesday, June 11, 1969. Yankees 5 (11 innings). At the time New York was in the midst of one of...

Royals Then, Now and Forever. The Official Blog of the Royals Hall of Fame. Tonight is the first game of interleague play this season as the Rockies make only their second visit to Kauffman Stadium (the first was a three-game sweep by the Royals – June 23-25, 2008). The Royals enter the game with a 26-22 overall record against National League West squads. Each of those two 1997 starting line-ups featured a player still active almost 13-years later –. Can you names those two now grizzled veterans? Nice wi...

Royals Then, Now and Forever. The Official Blog of the Royals Hall of Fame. Signing of Royals 1974 First Round Draft Pick Willie Wilson. David Schoenfeld at the always interesting SweetSpot baseball blog on ESPN.com has posted his list of the best MLB draft picks ever at each of the (now) thirty draft slots. Remember the draft started in 1965 when there were twenty (20) big leagues clubs – so some of these spots were once in the second round. The Best #9 Pick – Kevin Appier (1987). Royal Heritage: April 2014

Monday, April 28, 2014. My All-Time Players By Position. Using my top 100 player list. Here's how the rankings break down by position. Pujols is already in a dead heat with Foxx, and will almost certainly pass him sometime this season. My best guess is that Satchel Paige was Walter Johnson's equal on the mound. But Johnson could hit a little, and Satchel couldn't. Links to this post. Integrating the Segregated Era With Strat-O-Matic Part Two. The standings remain extremely tight:. Links to this post.

Saturday, December 7, 2013. Despite the futility of the last two decades of Royals baseball, they have always retained the best all-time record among the 69ers. The Nationals are starting to nip at their heels though. More importantly, the Royals have also tasted by far the most playoff action and success:. Wednesday, October 8, 2014. New Top 100 and Thoughts. Last February, March, and April, I painstakingly rated my top 100 players of all time and made note of any connections each one had with KC. Click here to see all my top 100 related posts. With another season in the books and some new thoughts about how to adjust my rankings, I've rejiggered them a bit, and you can find my new list below. So I've added this timeline adjustment, stolen from James, to my formula: (year of birth - 1852)/6. On the ext...

Thursday, March 27, 2014. Top 100 and KC Connections: 21—30. Likely made a number of trips to KC to play the Monarchs. 24 John Henry Lloyd. In addition to an unknown number of trips to KC as a visitor, suited up for the Monarchs in a post-season exhibition series against the KC Blues in 1921. The Monarchs usual shortstop, Dobie Moore, was injured, so the Monarchs brought in Lloyd. I'm not sure how Lloyd performed individually, but the Blues won the series 4-2. Links to this post.
