An American Astrophysicist in Glasgow: Concerts and Volcanoes
http://usastrophysicistinglasgow.blogspot.com/2010/04/concerts-and-volcanoes.html
An American Astrophysicist in Glasgow. Sunday, April 18, 2010. The Fields of Athenry was my first favourite Dropkick Murphys song, so I went friggin nuts. They played a brilliant show. Glaswegians are just as nuts about music as I heard. It was a crazy, primal show; so much sweating and dancing and singing. Airflow would have been nice, but people were pretty good at getting their passed-out friends out of the crowd (not even kidding! And we could not hear or speak. It always feels great. An American Astrophysicist in Glasgow: One Year. One. Year.
http://usastrophysicistinglasgow.blogspot.com/2010/06/one-year-one-year.html
An American Astrophysicist in Glasgow. Wednesday, June 2, 2010. One Year. One. Year. A year. A. When did that happen? In over my head. I wandered around in a daze for days and honestly, I can't remember one specific day from the first few months. I hated where I lived, I missed everyone back home and I did not know how to do my research. 0630 - Alarm goes off.snooze button hit. 0645 - Alarm goes off. buried it under my pillow. 0715 - Open eyes. 0730 - Sit up. 0735 - Stand up. 1023 - wrote a long email.

An American Astrophysicist in Glasgow: "This country hasn't treated you very well, has it?"
http://usastrophysicistinglasgow.blogspot.com/2010/04/this-country-hasnt-treated-you-very.html
An American Astrophysicist in Glasgow. Sunday, April 25, 2010. This country hasn't treated you very well, has it? Why is it that I wake up happy and enthusiastic every single morning? Why is it that outsiders have to comment on my situation for me to notice? Am I just in another screwed up relationship, where my love for this country is blinding me to how I am being treated? http://usastrophysicistinglasgow.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html
An American Astrophysicist in Glasgow. Sunday, August 30, 2009. Sweaty Palms and Awkward Silences. Wow, what a busy week. Again, I apologise for having to post last weeks and this one at the same time, but please read both. Sunday, August 23, 2009. First of all, I'd like to apologise for this being late, but I'm at the STFC summer school and there is a severe lack of internet access. I'm writing this on Sunday, as usual, but I do not know when I will get a chance to post it. Sunday, August 16, 2009.

An American Astrophysicist in Glasgow: Croeso i Gymru!
http://usastrophysicistinglasgow.blogspot.com/2010/05/croeso-i-gymru.html
An American Astrophysicist in Glasgow. Tuesday, May 11, 2010. We all high-five each other until it is pointed out that 50 alcohol units is what is recommended for women over the period of a month (maximum of 2 each day, which is about one drink). My friend says "It's okay, Erin, you drink like a guy anyway." and there is a brief pause before someone says, "You know. we're a government statistic.". They have them here! The next morning (okay, the next. After Dr Who we went to the cinema and watched. From ...

An American Astrophysicist in Glasgow: July 2010
http://usastrophysicistinglasgow.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html
An American Astrophysicist in Glasgow. Thursday, July 8, 2010. Right, it's been over a year now since I started this blog. My life in Scotland has now settled down to the tedium of football games in the pub, wine nights in front of Doctor Who, drinking gin and tonics secretly in Kelvingrove Park (okay, I don't actually drink this. Watching 30 Rock, Frasier, The Office, etc DVDs on repeat and working away in the world of Gravitational Waves. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile.

An American Astrophysicist in Glasgow. Monday, December 14, 2009. Thanks for sticking with me for these 6 and a bit months! This will be the last post until after the holidays. Or 'do you get to fly in space? Time and wanted to know what it was like and the best way to go about it. Those are the times I really like speaking to this age group. Which is more like a Safeway than any other supermarket I've been to here. Though this was a little out of the city (I miss having a car! I wasn't even aware of it!

An American Astrophysicist in Glasgow. Monday, April 5, 2010. California, Parties and Leaving-do's. I realise it has been a month since I last updated. Do not worry, I have not forgotten about you! The biggest event that happened since the beginning of March would be the two weeks I spent in California. So I will quickly fill you in on the past events. And sat at the dining table drinking wine and eating curry for 9 hours. Nine hours. We left at 3:30am. I do appreciate living in a city where ...I am an A...

An American Astrophysicist in Glasgow: March 2010
http://usastrophysicistinglasgow.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
An American Astrophysicist in Glasgow. Friday, March 5, 2010. Okay, code is running, I have an hour and a half to kill and nothing to do, so here is an update! I am going to a show in Edinburgh in April! So, skiing in the Highlands! After lunch, the Swiss girl we knew talked us in to going to the top of the mountain where the only way down was blue slopes on one side and certain death slopes on the other. "Oh, you'll be fine, the blue doesn't have any more of an incline than the green one" LIES!
