Peon of Respiratory Therapy. The adventures of a new grad. From the belly button up. Wednesday, February 29, 2012. I just fully aspirated half my cup of coffee. Granted, it wasn't a full cup of coffee, but 20 minutes later I am still coughing and sputtering. The point of this all was my realizing that having normal saline poured directly into your lungs (instillation) must feel like absolute crap. Scribbled by Lung Lover. Links to this post. Friday, February 24, 2012. CPR works. Sometimes. Then the resid...

pulmonological: Advocacy
http://pulmonological.blogspot.com/2013/02/advocacy.html
A blog about Respiratory Care by a Respiratory Therapist. Patient advocacy is exhausting. I might "just" be a Respiratory Therapist but since its within my scope of practice to interpret chest radiographs, I am going to. Next time though, when a Respiratory Therapist tells you they're concerned about a patient's cardio-pulmonary status, listen to them like you would listen to an expert on the topic. Not just because we're colleagues or friends, but because we are actually experts on the topic.

Because then school starts and it gets cancelled. These things I'll be doing instead of going to the concert are fun and important. The fun thing is (if I choose to accept the mission) I might play a "Trauma Patient" for County Hospital. Interesting. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). An Existence Less Meaningless. The NIBP Showdown | RT Mouthbreather

Respiratory therapy education… one breath at a time. August 27, 2009. Yesterday, during our clinical preparation, I had the chance to brush up on a few skills that have fallen by the wayside. At one station was a manual sphygmomanometer. I was quite surprised to see it, since I have only used digital versions during my clinical placements. After reacquainting myself with the device, I took the blood pressure of several of my classmates. It was exciting! So why, then, aren’t health care professional...

Tough and Competent | RT Mouthbreather

Respiratory therapy education… one breath at a time. September 6, 2009. This man is my hero. For those of you who don’t recognize him by his photo, this is Eugene “Gene” Kranz. Everything about this man impresses me. I recently read his autobiography entitled “ Failure is Not an Option. 8221; The name of the book alone was enough to motivate me, but the 394 pages that came after did even more. To put it simply, this man is the epitome of dedication and work ethic. As Kranz put it:. Means we are forever a...
