Monday, May 25, 2015. Fighting for the Ice Age Trail and Stewardship. Along the way I blogged about my adventures, entertaining readers with stories and whatever else floated into my head. I snapped 1500 photos, the quality of the shots improving each day. Two months of hiking through the glacial terrain of Wisconsin helped me discover my voice for writing and eye for photography. Monday, February 25, 2013. Wisconsin Winter Waterfall Waltz - Pictures. A dream of mine was realized a few weekends back as my friend Barry and I went on the Wisconsin Winter Waterfall Waltz. Everyone loves a waterfall in the spring and summer, but what about the winter? Barry's photos (there are some spectacular shots in here). Tuesday, February 19, 2013. The Constraints of Greatness. Ruminations...: December 2014

http://ruminationdave.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html

Wednesday, December 10, 2014. Things you do on solo road trips when no one is there to offer better judgment. Try driving down an unplowed road somewhere west of Manitouwadge, Ontario to see a waterfall, getting stuck, and never seeing the waterfall. Never stopping to take a picture of the beautiful alpenglow because a more convenient spot is “just ahead.”. My best picture of the alpenglow. Later that night, the sleet did not make for a very enjoyable campfire. Listen to Canadian public radio. 8220;Restl...

Ruminations...: November 2014

http://ruminationdave.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html

Tuesday, November 25, 2014. I sleep around. A lot. Wait, not like that. I’m on the road for a good chunk of the year, sleeping in tents for work and crashing on couches or guest rooms for fun. So far in 2014, I’ve slept in over 40 different places. But I always found home saddling up to the bar with my favorite bartenders working. There was Roxie, Jess and Josie at the Come Back In, Mary at the Great Dane and Andura, my favorite, who worked at a couple different places but lastly at the Brass Ring. My fa...

Rumination Avenue — Food, Fashion, Family and a Few Things in Between

The Vanishers by Heidi Julavits. September 19th, 2013 · Books. If you are a psychic, do you lose a part of yourself because of your connection to others? Can you always trust your intuition? Julavits explores how a psychic intuition can leave one feeling isolated. Julia, the protagonist, has suffered a psychic attack that leaves her sick and without purpose. An avant-garde scholar offers her a job to look for a mysterious woman who has ties to her dead mother’s past. I enjoyed this book, though at times ...

Getting to know me. September 17, 2014. Middot; by ruminationbasin. Middot; in Uncategorized. Middot; Leave a comment. I managed to scrape a First-class honours degree from my beloved university. Now what? I always thought i’d readily welcome the prospect of being a graduate and heading ‘back to life back to reality’. This jolt is precisely what has happened in the past few months-however, it has given me a severe case of unwelcome whiplash. I’m told […]. February 24, 2014. Middot; by ruminationbasin.

Bible devotions and prayers. Saturday, January 25, 2014. Lamentations 3:11 – Turned Aside and Torn Apart. He has turned aside my ways and torn me to pieces; He has made me desolate. The above verse continues the thoughts begun in Lamentations 3:1, in which the speaker expresses his experience of being disciplined by God. Let’s look at the key Hebrew words in the passage and their meanings. Way, road, distance, journey, manner. To turn aside, to depart. To tear in pieces. To put, to place, to set. The abo...

Rumination Laboratory | Thinking's contagious.

The Christian’s Identity and the Image of God. January 20, 2014. Spiritual and Ministry Formation. December 11, 2013. This semester I have been reflecting on the image of God, particularly within a narrative context. The narrative of Creation-Rebellion-Redemption-Restoration sees God’s good creation (the beginning) as essential to understanding the consummative restoration of the world (the end). God or not. In the first sense, however, every human simply is. The image of God. This seems so obvious in so...
