Just putting one foot in front of the other. Rodale Auto Opt-In Email Marketing. I was going through my spam folder the other day and noticed a significant amount of emails from Rodale publications. Most of the emails were promoting products and services from Rodale advertisers or their own products. What was surprising to me was the sheet quantity of emails from titles that I never subscribed too. Instead of auto-opting me into these lists, why don’t you present me with a screen at signup that wil...

Just putting one foot in front of the other. Taper madness: Keeping my sanity. Before I started running longer distances, I just assumed the most difficult aspect of the entire training and racing cycle would be the actual race or. The amount of miles that are required to be ran before race day. Turns out I was dead wrong. The taper has turned out the be the most mentally and physically exhausting part of the cycle for me. 4 more days until the Portland Marathon…. Altra Lone Peak 1.5 Review. I went down ...

Just putting one foot in front of the other. Silver Falls Half Marathon Recap. After running in the Silver Falls area last April. I knew I wanted to run the Silver Falls half marathon at some point. The area is absolutely beautiful and the trail is challenging. Friday afternoon we drove over to Silverton. Where we had a room booked at the Silverton Inns and Suites. We had a little time to kill in Silverton, so we walked a bit downtown. Was a neat town with a clean downtown area. Lisa had been sick the we...

Silver Falls Trail Run - Trail of 10 Waterfalls - Geek Turned Runner

http://geekturnedrunner.com/running/silver-falls-trail-run-trail-of-10-waterfalls

Just putting one foot in front of the other. Silver Falls Trail Run – Trail of 10 Waterfalls. This past week, I spent a few nights at the Silver Falls Campground. This gave me an opportunity to run the Trail of 10 Waterfalls trail. It’s a 9 mile out and back trail that features 10 waterfalls and some amazing scenery. It was a slow run, lots of elevation (about 2,000 ft in total), and several starts and stops to check out the falls. I’d highly recommend checking out the area if you can. There is no way.

2013 Portland Marathon Recap - Geek Turned Runner

http://geekturnedrunner.com/running/2014-portland-marathon-recap

Just putting one foot in front of the other. 2013 Portland Marathon Recap. The weather gods gave us their blessing yesterday for the Portland Marathon. Up to a few days prior, the forecast was calling for 55 with a mixture of cloud and rain. In actual it was mid 60’s and sunny. Was a perfect day to run a marathon. The day before the marathon, my wife and our friend Amy. The night was typical tossing and turning (which apparently a poor night sleeping does not impact your raceday performance. Back in May ...

The Bi-Annual Update - Geek Turned Runner

http://geekturnedrunner.com/life/bi-annual-update

Just putting one foot in front of the other. Well, I have been slacking. My last post has been nearly 4 months, but running has continued, albeit at a more mellow mileage for now. I’ve been busy with a new position at UltraRunning Magazine. A few weeks ago I signed up for my second 50K. The Mcdonald Forest 50K. This will be a big change from the McKenzie river. Nearly 7,000 of elevation gain and loss. I see lots of hill training in my future. My hope is to finish under 7 hours. I am just wrapping up my Ma...

Just putting one foot in front of the other. 4 benefits to running without headphones. Up until the Cascade Lakes Relay this year, I ran with headphones nearly 100% of the time. Since the relay, I have ran with headphones once. The 50k, Portland Marathon and all the training for those were ran without music. What I have found is that I love running without music. Here are a few of the benefits I’ve noticed since running without headphones. 8211; It’s obviously important to be aware of cars that are...

http://geekturnedrunner.com/running/sore-and-bloody-nipples-running

Just putting one foot in front of the other. PSA: Sore and Bloody Nipples from Running. I’ve never heard of a medal or award for finishing a run with bloody nipples. There is no badge of honor to be had if you squeal like a pig when you jump in the shower and have steaming water hit those puppies. I know I’m not the only one who experiences this problem, a google search for “ bloody nipples from running. 8221; returns about 1.8 million pages. Bet he can’t wait for that shower. There is no way. Running Break | broken bones = broken heart

Broken bones = broken heart. Al Goldstein Summer Speed Series #7. August 13, 2015. This was the last Al Goldstein race of 2015. I felt like it would either go out with a bang, or with a feeble little whimper… and I was leaning towards the latter, since I slept like total crap the night before and —. 8212; my digestive system was having a very unhappy day. 8230;because even though I’ve achieved my sub-21:40 goal this summer, I’m just not wired to take it easy. Going the Distance

A blog about running, personal health and fitness. Saturday, March 30, 2013. I am not sure what I was expecting really. After being fairly lazy (that is the nice way of putting it) for the better part of the last year, I have had a terrible time running these past couple of days! I don't think I have ever been in worse shape in my life. Sadly, in the best interest of my running health I think I must start slower than I have ever started before. Links to this post. The Running Briefs

Marathon Redemption - Weeks 14, 15, 16. PARANOIA is in bloom,. The PR transmissions will resume. They'll push drugs that keep us all dumbed down,. And hope we never see the truth around. Another promise, another scene,. Another packaged lie to keep us trapped in greed. And all the green belts wrapped around our minds,. And endless red tape to keep the truth confined. They will not force us. They will stop degrading us. They will not control us. We will be VICTORIOUS. Come let the revolution take its toll.
