Running for Fatties

Monday, December 1, 2014. Race Report: Thankful 13. Race Name: The Thankful 13. Distances offered: Half Marathon, 5K, Kids Run. Distance I ran: 5K. Location: Lehi, UT. Time to earn our turkey! A few highlights of this race: Turkeys, pies, and hot chocolate! Pre-race communication: 3.5/5. Packet pickup: 4.5/5. Race parking and getting the race started: 3.5/5. I should say that we actually got a very mild Thanksgiving (as far as Utah Thanksgivings go), but right before the race started, it was frigid!

Running for Fatties: Injuries and Motivation

http://runningforfatties.blogspot.com/2011/07/injuries-and-motivation.html

Friday, July 29, 2011. Absence makes the heart grow fonder? That got me to thinking. What if we treated motivation as an injury? Now, I don't mean the normal hesitancy, or trouble getting our butts out of bed in the morning. I mean REALLY struggling outside the normal. What if we recognized this as a mental injury? Just like it is critical to take rest to heal physical injuries, maybe we need to just take a few days to rest, and then come back mentally strong. What do you think? July 29, 2011 at 7:09 PM.

Running for Fatties: October 2014

http://runningforfatties.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html

Tuesday, October 21, 2014. A Guide to Running in Costume. Because I'm less of a runner and more of a have-runner. I'm always looking for something to spice up my runs and races. Fun, silly, super scenic locale, anything so that its not just another miserable 3-6 miles. Confession time: I am both a huge Halloween nerd, and a massive Disney fan. For running, this means that it was only a matter of time before I ran a race in costume. DO: Work with what you have. Case in point: Hubby ran as Zorro. He wore b...

Tuesday, September 23, 2014. Race Report: Beat the Blerch Inaugural. Race Name: Beat the Blerch. Distances offered: Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K. Distance I ran: 10K (hubby ran the half). Location: Carnation, WA. Cue terrible elevator music.*. I was not one of the lucky few who got in. I did however, sign up for the waiting list that same day just in case they opened up more spots or some runners canceled. They did eventually open up more spots, and then they decided to just go ahead and open up ...The o...

Running for Fatties: Investigative Report: Forearm and Calf Sleeves

http://runningforfatties.blogspot.com/2014/11/investigative-report-forearm-and-calf.html

Sunday, November 2, 2014. Investigative Report: Forearm and Calf Sleeves. For one unfamiliar with the world of running, some things seem completely bizarre - from words seemingly designed to make 12-year-olds giggle (fartlek? To completely strange apparel. Take this woman:. Clearly there is some kind of running insider secret to which I am not yet privy. It is time for an investigation. Luckily, I happen to be friends with one of the managers of my local running store, Salt Lake Running Company. As a ser...

running for eighty

Saturday, April 19, 2014. April 19, 2014. If running was easy everyone would be running. Maybe the word running scares people. Some might think of high school cross country or track meets where they had to run all out and had not trained enough for their effort. Their experience was a memory of pain rather than a sense of accomplishment. Maybe they just quit to soon. Or did not realize what running could do for them./. Well back to my running. This is one of the tulip fields in Mt. Vernon, Wa. My next ra...

hello

Funny how a URL that used to mean so much to me is just saved as a sideblog with no content. I tried to run for eternity, and it would’ve killed me f I hadn’t saved myself. It was my drug. But it no longer will take from me what it used to. I am free. Aug 6th, 2014.
