We are an English Folk Dance Club, founded in 1979, and based in Holloway in the middle of Derbyshire, a few miles from Matlock, Cromford and Crich. We meet fortnightly on Wednesday evenings. Additionally, we run two Saturday evening dances with a band for music each year, plus an annual costume Playford Ball. What we do when. A Wednesday evening at Holloway. A complete list of dates is given on the Calendar. Our regular club evenings are held fortnightly in Holloway. We meet, from 7.30 to 10.00 pm, on the 2nd, 4th and (if there is one) 5th Wednesdays in each month. In August we meet on the last Wednesday only. In December we sometimes meet on the 3rd instead of the 4th Wednesday depending on where Christmas is in the week. There is a short interval halfway, with tea and coffee available. If you are new to dancing, then your first Wednesday evening is free! Thereafter there is a charge of £1.50 for members and £2.50 for non-members and visitors. So, if you are new and join on your second visit, you will pay nothing the first evening, £5.50 (ie £4 £1.50) the second evening and £1.50 thereafter. Tea/coffee during the break is included. Dances on Saturday evenings are individually priced, and are usually around £8 - £10. Light refreshments (tea/coffee and cake) are included in the price.

Background to the club and dances. The Run of the Mill Folk Dance Club was formed in November 1979 by folk dance enthusiasts Richard and Eileen Young who placed notices in local shops and in the local paper. In September 2009 we held a Sunday dance to celebrate our 30. Anniversary, with many former members from various parts of the country joining us again for the afternoon.
