Run to Your Life Coaching. Running… Growing… Thinking… Community. Half Marathon #18 – Rock and Roll New Orleans Race Report. Rehoboth Beach Half – State #23. December 5, 2015. My pre-race inspiration was the guy behind me when I walking to the start. He said to his friend “this is my 101st, but what I’m most proud of, is that 95 of them have been since I turned 70.” Not sure if he was talking about full or half marathons… but either way that’s impressive! Run to Your Life Coaching. Running… Growing… Thinking… Community. Newer posts →. This week’s email featured an essay from Harvard Business Review by Umair Haque on leadership called “How and Why to be a Leader (not a Wannabe). I enjoyed reading it, especially because Haque touched on the subject of love and leadership, something we’re a little too afraid to talk about in the “business world.” This is what he said:. I believe lives as cold as steel will only yield a world as cruel as ice. I believe co...

Run to Your Life Coaching. Running… Growing… Thinking… Community. White Mountains Half Marathon – Race Report. Rehoboth Beach Half – State #23 →. Half Marathon #18 – Rock and Roll New Orleans Race Report. February 1, 2015. It was unseasonably cold at race time. Runners shivered in 40 degree weather for a start that took a very long time. Not quite what I was expecting for New Orleans! I think for the first time ever, I had to use the port-a-john during a half marathon. Too much water! I got to meet a few...

Run to Your Life Coaching. Running… Growing… Thinking… Community. New Jersey/Long Branch Half Marathon – Race Report →. San Francisco Half Marathon – Race Report. February 17, 2014. After sixteen months of not racing due to injury, I ran the 2014 Kaiser Permanente San Francisco Half Marathon in Golden Gate Park — my fourteenth half marathon in my 13th state. My time didn’t matter for this one, it was all about finishing and seeing how my foot would feel. It was fine and I was only a little bit ...Fill in...

Iron Mum news, Iron Mums' views and random musings. Larr; The new runners’ lexicon. Janathon Day 31: The End of the Journey. Or is it…? February 1, 2014. Still buzzing from Janathon. But February has traditionally been my month for Achieving Great Things: it’s nice and short, all the rich food left over from Christmas has been eaten/expired, and the snowdrops hold out the promise of spring in the not-too-distant future. Remember Feballenge. Same story this year really: as per The Plan. Janathon Day 31: T...

Iron Mum news, Iron Mums' views and random musings. Reading Half Marathon – against all odds. March 2, 2014. No problem re transport though, there’s a train at 8.14 from Bramley which gets to Reading 8.30am, plenty of time for the shuttle bus to the start. Met up with a few other runners on the platform, get chatting, the display reads ‘1st train: 8:14 Reading, on time’. Marvellous. How heavy would your phone have to be before you could say it had slowed you down in a race? This is not going well. Th...

27 Days, 2876 Miles. California to Georgia on my Bike. Chris Spear’s Blog. Day 26 – Metter, GA. October 8, 2015. A relatively easy ride through rural Georgia brings us to the cusp of the end of our adventure. We battled a mild headwind almost all day. It wasn’t that bad, but it just reminded us that we’ve had almost no tailwinds. We were on heavily traveled roads today, which was a problem because I’m starting to zone out on the bike! Today’s ride was 117 miles. Day 25 – Perry, Georgia. This is an early ...

This month the focus is on food, which is a troublesome thing to be focusing on. My relationship to food is no more troubled than most women’s but frankly that’s not saying much. It’s fuel, treat, comfort, enemy, reward, indulgence, penance, depending on the day and what the scales say. Any favourite detox/vegan recipes?

Iron Mum news, Iron Mums' views and random musings. Larr; Virtual Iron Mum. Running through my head. February 19, 2013. Most of the time, however, the brain stubbornly remains engaged. I stopped mid-run the morning of Child 2’s birthday party last month to call Mr IM when I remembered the sandwiches I’d prepared the day before were still in the freezer and a woman passing by laughed as I put my phone away: ‘You don’t just switch off, then? 8217; she asked, genuinely curious. It made me think (ironic, huh?

The morning brought sun and fog, which made our entry into Georgia very beautiful. A large reservoir separates the two states where we crossed. The great weather continued through the day, though we had some mild headwinds. (I think we’ve had tailwinds only one day! Unlike most days, our last 20 miles was flat and pleasant. Two more days of riding left until the Atlantic!
