Emily Rose's Travels: Pokhara
http://emilyrosestravels.blogspot.com/2009/10/pokhara.html
Thursday, October 15, 2009. Whenever people strike up conversations with me in Nepal, they pretty much ask three questions, always in the same order: 1) What is your name? 2) Where are you from? 3) Have you visited Pokhara yet? Pokhara is like Nepal's version of a lakeside resort-type city. They don't have much clean water here, so a big lake like Phewa Tal is pretty exciting. It's the one thing I missed out on the last time I was here, so I was super happy to finally make it this time around. My favouri...

Emily Rose's Travels: June 2009
http://emilyrosestravels.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html
Monday, June 29, 2009. Anyways, for my return to blogging I thought I'd post some lists: top 5 things I miss about Nepal, and for my proud Canadians, top 5 things I missed about Canada when I was in Nepal. Top 5 things I miss about Nepal (besides people):. Everyone seems to live life much more in the open than in Canada, hanging out on streetcorners. And lounging on steps everywhere. Most people who are outside in Canada seem to be on their way somewhere. 2 The amazing food, and tea. Top 10 places I'd li...

Emily Rose's Travels: February 2008
http://emilyrosestravels.blogspot.com/2008_02_01_archive.html
Sunday, February 17, 2008. Banda, unclean souls, and near-death experiences. Banda, banda, banda. Bhaktapur police station (on fire). Everything's still going well. I managed to do an on-the-fly diagnosis of ringworm for one of the kids last week. I noticed a sore on a girl's neck, e-mailed a photo to Karen at the hospital in Bhaktapur, she passed it on to a doctor, who e-mailed me back a perscription. Bizarre, but efficient. Me with some of my favourite kids: (left to right) Samir,. With a 103. Yep.

Emily Rose's Travels: Stories with no accompanying photos
http://emilyrosestravels.blogspot.com/2009/09/stories-with-no-accompanying-photos.html
Tuesday, September 15, 2009. Stories with no accompanying photos. But these stories are just so so Nepali! More microbus adventures. I was sitting on a microbus on my way to work yesterday when a woman got on with two small children. There was clearly no seats as the seating for 15 was already occupied by at least 30 people (you know the aversion Canadians have to physical contact with strangers? They get stuck together when they’re done! Like, by their naughty bits! Did anyone else know this happened?

Emily Rose's Travels: January 2008
http://emilyrosestravels.blogspot.com/2008_01_01_archive.html
Wednesday, January 30, 2008. The weekend: mountains, 5 star hotels and trekking. So, after that crazy Friday night, Karen, DC and I managed to drag our tired butts out of bed at 5 am Saturday morning to catch the "moutain flight". This flies next to a really beautiful section of the himalayas. However, I was a little dissapointed that it didn't get closer. I was picturing flying in between peaks! It was beautiful though. Ladies and gentlemen, Mount freakin' Everest. The tallest one, duh). H in our room!

Emily Rose's Travels: March 2008
http://emilyrosestravels.blogspot.com/2008_03_01_archive.html
Saturday, March 22, 2008. Buddha fest, Amazing Race, and Holi War. Yet another festival took place recently. No, it's not actually called Buddha fest, but I forget the actual name. We all (including the 3 new volunteers: Amy, Lauren and Paige) went with Rajiv. To watch this festival, wherein people craft and decorate giant buddha. Puppets and then wear them around Durbar. Square. It's a competition between neighbourhoods to see who has the best Buddha. It was pretty crazy, but very beautiful. But the fes...

Emily Rose's Travels: August 2009
http://emilyrosestravels.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html
Friday, August 28, 2009. Real professional there, Em. Sometimes we pretty young things here in Kathmandu like to go out to "da clubs" (as the kids, I believe, say) on weekends to dance around and blow off some steam. Lots of fun, and an opportunity to meet some really interesting people (.). So last weekend we called some friends who are involved in the party scene here in Kathmandu and headed out for a night of shakin' our booties. Yeah, here's the page, from the Himalayan Times "About Town" section:.
