We used to talk every morning over coffee as we settled into the work day and waited for our computers to boot up. We took afternoon walks for a moment away from outlook and email. But I failed to articulate them. I wrote a handful of drafts, each version a more miserable disappointment than the last. I was trying to write about commitment.
