Life in Kenya through the eyes of a Musical Accounting Missionary! Saturday, 12 October 2013. I'm enjoying this beautiful addition to the neighbourhood while it lasts! Links to this post. At work, we have internal controls in place to ensure that finances are being used appropriately:-. Every transaction has to have supporting documentation, including authorisation. Reimbursements aren't given without receipts. That would be the norm for every organization, surely? Maintenance of bank and cash accounts.

Kenyan Chronicles: July 2014
http://kenyanchronicles.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Life in Kenya through the eyes of a Musical Accounting Missionary! Friday, 18 July 2014. Observations on my Ethiopian flights from Ouaga to Nairobi yesterday:-. 1 Little difference between matatu and plane passengers with regard to the notion of queuing to get on the means of transport! A bit of a scrum to get on. I kept finding myself at the back! 2 No preference given to the elderly or those with children. 3 As a female traveller, I was very. Much in the minority. Kenyan Chronicles: Matumbato Potholes
http://kenyanchronicles.blogspot.com/2014/05/matumbato-potholes.html
Life in Kenya through the eyes of a Musical Accounting Missionary! Sunday, 25 May 2014. Each time I’ve visited the UK over the last few years, I’ve had various people tell me about the potholes there. Admittedly, I don’t spend that much time there and haven’t driven on every road (! But I’m not sure that I could say that I’ve seen any real potholes! Involving the digging up of tarmacked road surfaces (and not much in the way of relaying tarmac! With workers breaking up rocks to fill them, and presumably ...

Kenyan Chronicles: January 2013
http://kenyanchronicles.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html
Life in Kenya through the eyes of a Musical Accounting Missionary! Sunday, 13 January 2013. The last border that I drove (or more accurately, was driven) across was from the U.S. to Canada. No forms needed to be filled out, no money paid, and no major questions about the content of the camper van that we were in, other than whether we had firewood (not firearms, firewood! It took all of 2 minutes, well maybe 3 as I did get a stamp in my UK passport. First stop was Immigration. They did have forms whi...

Kenyan Chronicles: An Eventful Drive
http://kenyanchronicles.blogspot.com/2014/05/an-eventful-drive.html
Life in Kenya through the eyes of a Musical Accounting Missionary! Tuesday, 13 May 2014. Tuesday evenings usually see me heading out to my church home group in Karen. It used to be that I could get there in half an hour if I left after 6:30pm. These days, it’s a different story. Meanwhile I was entranced by the numbers of flying termites in the air, caught in the vehicles’ headlights. It was almost like a light snow flurry. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Life in Kenya through the eyes of a Musical Accounting Missionary! Tuesday, 5 March 2013. One television station showed the two rallies simultaneously, the. Audio going from one to the other. By contrast, today everything was very quiet. Barely any traffic, other than police helicopters going overhead. The construction that has been going on for more than 5 months now, ceased completely. Quite a relief from the pounding! President. There are 8 candidates. The winning candidate must get more than ...Each ...

Kenyan Chronicles: May 2013
http://kenyanchronicles.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html
Life in Kenya through the eyes of a Musical Accounting Missionary! Wednesday, 8 May 2013. I’ve discovered that one of the things about travelling is the inevitability of requests, often fairly last minute, to transport something from A to B, or to act as personal shopper, buying something on behalf of somebody. I’ve availed myself of this opportunity of hand carries every time I distribute a newsletter. “Could you post these for me please? A wedding present for a friend of friends;. A birthday present fo...

Kenyan Chronicles: June 2013
http://kenyanchronicles.blogspot.com/2013_06_01_archive.html
Life in Kenya through the eyes of a Musical Accounting Missionary! Thursday, 6 June 2013. Will I make it? Seeing no real need to hasten my departure too much, I was up, dressed, breakfasted and packed within the hour, only to find that the taxi driver had gone off to do a school run! Next stop was a petrol station, though they seemingly had empty tanks. As it turned out did we, as the car glided to a halt a further 100 metres along the road…. Lady cleaning the street. Oh, and I must make a mental note to...

Life in Kenya through the eyes of a Musical Accounting Missionary! Tuesday, 27 May 2014. Such opportunities just don’t present themselves in the UK! In June 2007, I was asked to play Mozart’s Flute Concerto in D, followed by Bach’s 4. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Kenyan Chronicles: April 2014

Life in Kenya through the eyes of a Musical Accounting Missionary! Tuesday, 8 April 2014. Survival' Kit and Fruity Surprises! I think I must be getting softer as I get older. Long gone are the days of travelling light. My first non-European travelling adventure was 5 months living out of a backpack. Now a week’s trip involves a full suitcase! I won’t be going hungry that’s for sure, especially as they’re feeding us anyway! Nice to have the option of lighter meals / snacks though. My big surprise here was...
