Giorgio Tozzi Remembered « Can Belto

On the art of singing and those who practice it…. A dear friend of mine who wishes to remain anonymous, let’s call him LeporBBello, just sent me this remembrance. It is so beautifully written that I want to share it with you. Whatever I could say about Maestro, it all pales in the face of the remembrance of someone who was in his presence on a daily basis. Take it over LeporBBello:. For my part, today I lost something with no definition or descriptive words. Father, mentor, friend…role model? 8230;forget...

A Journal Of Visual Culture. Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. THAT LUCKY OLD SUN. February 12, 2015. Sinatra’s version above is way too white — it’s like an academic commentary on an African-American song. It doesn’t enter into the black idiom the way the song’s (white) composers entered into it. Bob Dylan, a white singer who has always had a special feel for the blues idiom, has performed the song a number of times over the years. Shadows In the Night. AN LP COVER FOR TODAY. 8221; Tha...

On the art of singing and those who practice it…. Addio Maestro Paul Kiesgen. This is going to be hard…And the tears start to flow. You are going to have to forgive me, but I am writing through tears. My voice teacher has died. I met Paul Kiesgen in 1998, when I was in need of a new voice teacher. My relationship with my former teacher had ended badly, I felt my voice was a wreck and I needed a new start. Rest in peace Maestro. April 7, 2011. Posted by Lindoro Almaviva. 1 Comment ». On the art of singing and those who practice it…. Elizabeth Caballero Violetta Valeri = Match made in heaven. Giuseppe Varano and Elizabeth Caballero in Madison Opera's La Traiata. Photo Credit: James Gil. My first impression as I entered Overture Hall, the performing space that Madison Opera uses was. OMG, I would kill to sing here. And I have to say I loved it. Now, how many of you guys can say that you were able to tweet right from your seat? I know, I know, it might seem like the end of the world to ...

On the art of singing and those who practice it…. KY opera opening night: Turiddu and Nedda Habemus! Last night I attended Kentucky Opera’s. Opening night performance of Cavalleria Rusticana and Pagliacci presented at the Brown Theater in KY. I must say that they have had an unqualified success with this perennial double bill. Let the blood bath start. As I said, the Pagliacci was a little more successful in that aspect. The blocking was kept pretty basic, and you know? My dear friend Rebekah Bortz Hardi...

This is the case with Eau d’Italie. It’s a favorite line, one I’ve written about more. As brands go, I’ve mined Eau d’Italie pretty thoroughly. I wear Bois d’Ombrie often (it’s a near perfect leather fragrance) and I was wearing it when I stopped by the Lafco. Booth at the Capsule. For the New York Times.
