Saurian: January 2015

http://saurian.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html

Saturday, 24 January 2015. The Lost Tyrannosaurid of Kazakhstan. In recent years we have seen the arrival of new tyrannosaurids such as Teratophoneus. And there are more to come. For instance we already know that there is a second species of Daspletosaurus. The pipeline for publication (Carr and Varricchio 2014) which I will, obviously, blog about in due course and there are one or two other surprises coming in the future as well. Even the relatively unknown Alioramus. 2009, Brusatte et al. So with all o...

Saurian: SVP 2014 - Berlin

http://saurian.blogspot.com/2014/11/svp-2014-berlin.html

Saturday, 1 November 2014. SVP 2014 - Berlin. The trip also enables me to visit the wonderful. This will be my last SVP meeting for two years so I will not be in Dallas next year but I hope to be back in Salt Lake City in 2016. However, the fact that I have managed to attend the last three, including Berlin, represents a nice run and I am constantly aware of how lucky I have been to attend these wonderful meetings – I never take these things for granted. And the reason for not going to Dallas in 2015?

Saurian: July 2014

http://saurian.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html

Wednesday, 16 July 2014. From the Toarcian to the Callovian Pt.3. The following day I decided to visit Whitby Museum and do a little scouting ahead of the next field trips. The museum is situated quite central in Whitby and is fairly well signposted but be aware that it is situated at the top of Chubb Hill which, if ascending from the sea front, can be quiet steep for those with mobility issues – or those who are just plain unfit. And there are several other vertebrate specimens. As well. Unfortunate...

Saurian: November 2013

http://saurian.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html

Wednesday, 27 November 2013. 8211; a dinosaur that we are all familiar with and now, thanks to the disclosures at this year’s SVP meeting in Los Angeles, an animal that we are now much more able to visualise in life. I first learnt about Deinocheirus. There was even a train of thought that Deinocheirus. Was a kind of giant reptilian sloth using its arms to pull down vegetation. Eventually, as the science of phylogenetics came to the fore, we got nearer to the truth and Deinocheirus. Of the material that ...

http://dinooftheweek.blogspot.com/2015/08/no-toys-here.html

Dinosaur of the Week. Learn about a new prehistoric animal every week with us. It will be a blast! Has been drawn and even made into a small plastic toy. The small plastic toy actually appears to be much more hadrosaur-like than Thescelosaurus. Like, however, we have all seen much less accurate toys over the years here. There are casts of the toe claws. Does not show up in many books only about itself. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Monday at the Movies. Stints in the Ocean.

http://dinooftheweek.blogspot.com/2015/08/facts-everywhere.html

Dinosaur of the Week. Learn about a new prehistoric animal every week with us. It will be a blast! Aside from the misinterpreted facts about a hypothetical fossilized heart, there are a lot of facts out on the internet about the somewhat unheard of Thescelosaurus. Has a good information on their dedicated page as does the New Zealand hosted site Science Kids. About also has a very well thought out site with good information on their page. They usually do have good fact pages. View my complete profile.
