Don’t sit there! | The Red Wine Box
https://eddigoodwin.wordpress.com/2015/06/16/dont-sit-there
The Red Wine Box. Reflections and writings on the weirdness of life. Don’t sit there! A wise person recently told me that I should do something that brings me joy every day. I had a think about that. There are lots of things that used to bring me joy that I can’t do for the moment: reading, writing, socialising, drinking alcohol to excess, talking for hours on the phone, long dog walks in the country, dancing round the kitchen, being loud and silly, eating chocolate etc etc. 8221; I said to steam room man.

Christmas Salad | The Pumpkin Room
https://thepumpkinroom.wordpress.com/2016/12/16/christmas-salad
Sharing my love of making things. December 16, 2016. This is hardly rocket science (okay that pun was totally unintentional). But my Facebook friends have loved and shared my picture so I thought I’d post a quick blog. I had the task of making salad for the office bring and share (potluck) Christmas lunch. I was a bit disappointed as I thought it was hard to get creative. However, with a little effort here is a festive salad! Hummus (I made mine but clearly this isn’t essential! Square dish for hummus.

Sticky Boards | The Pumpkin Room
https://thepumpkinroom.wordpress.com/2015/01/19/sticky-boards/comment-page-1
Sharing my love of making things. January 19, 2015. This is a really basic idea, but people always love it. Essentially you turn some sort of surface (here an artist’s canvas) into a giant post-it note using repositionable spray mount. Then, non sticky paper can be added to make a picture or display. It is great as a teaching aid in a classroom or a prayer aid in church. It is endlessly adaptable so don’t be limited by this example. Cover the entire canvas with spray mount. I tend to use an action mo...

Easy Nativity Play Scripts | The Pumpkin Room
https://thepumpkinroom.wordpress.com/2016/11/26/easy-nativity-play-scripts/comment-page-1
Sharing my love of making things. Easy Nativity Play Scripts. November 26, 2016. If the donkey wants to carry his costume no one minds. Family life is complicated, committing to being at the Nativity is a big deal at Christmas. We often have different children at the rehearsal and the performance. Also, kids who come on the day want to join in. Even confident kids get stage fright, and it is pretty dull for the congregation if they can’t hear the story. To hear afresh the whole Christmas Story. The troub...

Stash Busting Footstool | The Pumpkin Room
https://thepumpkinroom.wordpress.com/2016/09/18/stash-busting-footstool
Sharing my love of making things. September 18, 2016. It’s home decor month on the stash-busting Facebook group I’m part of and, truthfully, it’s the first time it is really about stash busting for me. My sewing life has been mostly home decor for years, it is only in the last year I’ve been dressmaking. I’ve accumulated a nice stash of garment fabrics but am not feeling that guilt that comes from from true stash yet! Six panels of fabric, four retangles and 2 squares. Extra fabric pieces for strap.

Baby Bouquet | The Pumpkin Room
https://thepumpkinroom.wordpress.com/2016/06/15/baby-bouquet
Sharing my love of making things. June 15, 2016. So first of all, what’s in the bouquet. 2 Snuggle Swaddlers – I looked at lots of different versions but I used this pattern. From Lotta Jansdotter. I used the pattern but put it together intuitively as I got impatient with the instructions. 4 Burp Cloths – having asked around a lot I made them about 24×12 inches. I used a metre of Bamboo towelling (which I bought from ebay) as it dries fast and quilting cotton from my stash. So on to Bouquet assembly:.

Of Bicycles and Cake: a life-long love affair – Sheila's Feel Good Blog

Sheila's Feel Good Blog. Of Bicycles and Cake: a life-long love affair. July 11, 2015. July 13, 2015. In a conversation with a friend the other day she mentioned her earliest memory. It set me thinking: what is my earliest memory? It’s hard to tease out what is an actual memory from what you’ve been told or what you saw in a photo. But I think I’ve thought of two very early memories – one involving cake and the other involving a bike. Yes, that is me! And here is Essian and his family:. And Mummy made a ...

Puppet Scripts – Grace and Jake | The Pumpkin Room
https://thepumpkinroom.wordpress.com/2016/11/15/puppet-scripts-grace-and-jake
Sharing my love of making things. Puppet Scripts – Grace and Jake. November 15, 2016. I bought them, brought them home and wrote a script, followed the advice from that workshop years before, and Grace and Jake were born. How I use the puppets:. Never ever let ANYONE see the puppets when they are not in action, it will break the implicit deal you have with the congregation that the puppets are ‘real’. I hide behind the screen for the whole service if I can manage to, or slip in and out during songs.
