scaqaboutwest: April 2014
http://scaqaboutwest.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html
More adventures of Shaun, Cindy, Abbey, and Quinn. Sunday, April 20, 2014. Buffalo Creek Boys' Ride. Click here to link to the Garmin log. My camera didn't like the contrast in the sky, so most of my pics are washed out, but this rocky peak is Mt. Baldy, himself. Our ride took us in a loop around Mt. Baldy. Much of this area burned years ago, and the skeletons of trees still standing lend an eerie feel to the landscape; the feeling is magnified by bulbous and twisted chunks of granite. It's getting harde...

More adventures of Shaun, Cindy, Abbey, and Quinn. Saturday, September 27, 2014. Yellow Aspens in Crested Butte. I've lost my Garmin 400! I used it on our Monarch Crest Trail ride, and downloaded the data while sitting at our kitchen table. That was apparently the last time anybody saw it. So no more Garmin logs on our trips unless we can find it. Coming down Westside was nice, once we were out of the rocks and into the meadow. A view from the inside, with Quinn's bike on top. From the pass, the initial ...

scaqaboutwest: Spring Break 2015 - 18 Road and the Trail Through Time
http://scaqaboutwest.blogspot.com/2015/04/spring-break-2015-18-road-and-trail.html
More adventures of Shaun, Cindy, Abbey, and Quinn. Thursday, April 2, 2015. Spring Break 2015 - 18 Road and the Trail Through Time. Thursday morning, 9 a.m, give or take an hour, we arrived at the desert trails of 18 Road; our second visit this trip. Being very close to the Highline State Park Oasis of Green Grass and Trees, we could spend the day riding here without having to drive many miles, and we knew Luca would enjoy Kessel Run and PBR. scaqaboutwest: Spring Break 2015 - Loma Trails and Broken Brakes
http://scaqaboutwest.blogspot.com/2015/05/spring-break-2015-loma-trails-and.html
More adventures of Shaun, Cindy, Abbey, and Quinn. Friday, April 3, 2015. Spring Break 2015 - Loma Trails and Broken Brakes. Friday. After breakfast, Heather and Chris and Cailan came and met us at the Highline State Park Oasis. Although the campground was nearly full, there were a couple of sites opening up, and after a little trouble with red tape of a sort, they were able to secure a place to camp. Ascending a ledge, Quinn doesn't quite get up far enough on the first try. Squish. Better, this time.

scaqaboutwest: July 2014
http://scaqaboutwest.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
More adventures of Shaun, Cindy, Abbey, and Quinn. Sunday, July 20, 2014. So for today's adventure, we stitched together a Buffalo Creek area ride that would give us more than 20 miles of riding and about 2,000 feet of climbing. It worked out well and we all had a great time. Click here to see our route. But before we got going on Redskin, we spent a little time slurping water and being silly. Abbey is lost in the forest of skeletons on Nice Kitty Trail. Nice Kitty is a new trail, but is fairly similar t...

More adventures of Shaun, Cindy, Abbey, and Quinn. Sunday, November 30, 2014. Here's the stupid half rack:. Here's the full rack from the 2009 Armada on our 2004 Armada, below. In this picture, I have temporarily mounted a couple of our bike trays to the factory cross bars so that Quinn and I could get out and ride today. That won't be the permanent setup. Sunday, 30 November 2014. The last day of Thanksgiving break. On Saturday, the day before, the high temperature here was about 65 degrees F...It wa...

More adventures of Shaun, Cindy, Abbey, and Quinn. Sunday, December 7, 2014. Mountain Falcon Park, Castle Trail. That left me riding alone Sunday morning, which doesn't happen very often, so I thought I would ride something none of the rest of the scaq would want to ride. Something steep and rocky. Mount Falcon Park. On the way up the Castle Trail, there are some nice views of Denver and the surrounding foothills. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Cycling in the Rockies. More adventures of Shaun, Cindy, Abbey, and Quinn. Sunday, July 26, 2015. Abbey and some friends spent a few days camping south of Leadville this weekend. It took some convincing for us to let her do it, but eventually we gave in. So on Sunday, the rest of us, including Grandma and Amos, made a day trip to Leadville so that we could check up on or possibly rescue our daughter. We did neither, but we had a pretty good time. The trails were fun. Here is our Garmin log. Monday, July 20, 2015. We are running...

More adventures of Shaun, Cindy, Abbey, and Quinn. Tuesday, March 31, 2015. Spring Break 2015 - Mica Mine; Mesa U, and Loma Trails. Tuesday was another big day. With tired legs from running and riding, we took a nice walk to Mica Mine in the morning. And then we headed our for another ride. We rode up Mary's to Horsethief Bench and back, and then made a loop around Rustler's Loop. Mary's has fun and steep descent down a long rock ledge that at one time was a jeep road. Monday, March 30, 2015. Next we wen...
