Ilsa Around The World: November 2006

http://lisahuck.blogspot.com/2006_11_01_archive.html

Ilsa Around The World. Thursday, November 23, 2006. Lost My Way to School. In the past, getting lost has never bothered me all that much. Although, it really bothered my sister a couple of times (sorry, Sis). I've always seemed to find a lesson in it somehow, or at least a new adventure. In today's 'Lost' episode (Moscow style), I simply got lucky. Oh yeah, no one will sell me one. I don't have the right kind of visa yet (you actually have to hand over your passport to buy a cell phone/SIM card here).

Southern Ennui: April 2011. Friday, April 29, 2011. It's Time to Pay the Piper. All that Go Kart fun. Doesn’t come without a price. Auggie’s over here, and guess what else he’s used to that Phartacus and Slappy aren’t? Constant parental attention. He’s been here 53 minutes and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard him say, “Let’s go tell your mom! I’ll be in the bathroom with gin. Links to this post. Tuesday, April 26, 2011. Ilsa Around The World. Monday, October 02, 2006. How's that for an exciting title? Aren't you glad I'm back? Yep, my life slowed down a little when I came back to Canada. But hanging out with Ma and Pa in Lethbridge was actually pretty fun. Mom and I went for morning walks and Dad and I went grocery shopping for dinner - then we watched tv. The downside was I picked up a few too many extra pounds. I made sure to follow the instructions on the sign. Posted by Ilsa @ Monday, October 02, 2006.

My local friend, Shelby-Gail, is one of the most well-meaning, generous women I know, and is a person who will be there in times of trouble despite having troubles of her own. But here I am, about to gossip on her. As Clairee in Steel Magnolias. Said, “If you don’t have anything nice to say about anybody, come sit by me.”. Gimme a damn break. April 26, 2011 at 11:53 PM. Southern Ennui: Petty Revenge is the Sweetest. Saturday, September 17, 2011. Petty Revenge is the Sweetest. This morning I took Slappy over to his U8 game, where a bunch of 6- and 7-year-olds kicked each other in the shins and deflected the ball with their faces. It was their best game this season, the only one they didn't lose due to the fact that the other team was just as. hmm, what's a nice word for terrible? I'll forego the play-by-play. Southern Ennui: January 2011. Saturday, January 8, 2011. Wee Willie Weenie and The Good Time Patio Band. It’s Carnival time in The South, that celebrated high season of costume balls, Mardi Gras, revelry and feasting that occurs between Epiphany and Lent. What, that’s not going on at your house right now? Before I’m even outside I can clearly hear the sound of drums thumping steadily to music. Perhaps our neighbors, Creepetta and The Hamburglar, have started their fête early? But I digress. Surely al...

I love looking out from my back deck right now, primarily for what I don't see rather than what I do. Leaves of sweetgum, ash, and oak. Chunks of blue sky between tree tops. Neighbor's Sanford and Son junk heap. Other neighbor's Sanford and Son junk heap (this heap vanishes seasonally under a mass of honeysuckle and Virginia creeper). How Did I G...

Southern Ennui: A Tree Falls in Nifty's Yard. Saturday, April 23, 2011. A Tree Falls in Nifty's Yard. Spring, that season of bursting greenery which spurs an annual ride-on lawn mower extravaganza in my neighborhood. NISTFTSA. One of Nifty’s dead pine trees just partially collapsed, sadly only onto his own chain link fence. I admit I was hoping it would fall into Creepetta and The Hamburglar’s yard, as that right there would have been some entertainment. So I was rather looking forward to the day when on...
